One of my goals in life is to start a mentorship program for teens and young adults that will help them through the process of college applications, scholarships, and housing. During my teenage years life was extremely difficult for me. The one thing that kept me afloat despite my circumstances was my passion for wanting more out of life, and I knew education was the only way I would achieve my goals. Some people like myself will find the answers, while for others extreme difficulty along the way can turn them away from their passions. The program I intend to establish will give prospective students a safe haven to go to for answers so they are not discouraged from seeking higher education. My passion in life is to become a role model for students like myself who grew up in very toxic households with no guidance or rule book to the road to success. I want to be that rule book and mentor. Finally, I would love to start my own scholarship fund through my mentorship for students like myself—the students that put in the work every single day and just need the break that a financial award can provide. College is expensive and not every student has the financial ability to attend, but that should never hinder a student’s chance to pursue higher education.
