Real Estate embodies the traits and skills I know I pertain and have for years. Since I could walk I was bold. Since I could form cohesive sentences I would throw out pitches to my family and execute them. I may not have done so perfectly starting out, from my many ‘business’ endeavors as a child, but I had drive and motivation to continue no matter what. From selling products in my own home my mother bought back to her, to selling bakery goods to my entire high school, marketing and business has been engrained in my spirit for years. I truly can’t think of a time in my life when I was not thinking of a new bold idea and trying my hardest to do it effectively. Most of my business and selling inspiration came from my grandma, and she got her inspiration from her mother. My grandmother sold delicious pound cakes for years before she developed cancer. Seeing her bake away in that small, hot kitchen for years and always smiling lit something up in my young mind. She is truly the gateway for my love of business and the idea of marketing products out to the masses to make an impact. Her cakes had an impact on people. Whether it was family, friends, the neighborhood or church, people remember her and her cakes. I want to be seen like that. I want to be remember for something like that. I tried the cake route, while fun, I knew I wanted to do more. I want to sell something bigger, something that will last with people forever. After plenty research, nights of stressing about my future, and support to continue my education from my parents and grandma, that is when I knew commercial real estate was the dream job for me. This is understandably a drastic switch, from baking to selling office spaces and buildings. I understand how some may cock their heads at this peculiar flip, me, I see the correlation perfectly. While selling a cake may not seem as important as selling a space for a new business, I view both as impactful. Both require trust, no one wants any old body selling them food. As for a building, you would not want any old body selling you your future career space. Both require a special form of communication and trust I truly believe I contain. I make connections with people. I would want you to trust me to selling you this space, as I wanted my customers to trust me with their treats. I also prioritize people’s needs. I never want people to feel like their feelings are on the back burner. I try to make sure their wants and goals are met with efficiency and effort, like I would want done to me. This scholarship would help me tremendously. This would put me one step closer to completing my degree and getting me out in the real estate field to help others pursue their business endeavors and make their dreams come true.

Ambitious, dedicated and honest are some of the adjectives teachers, family and I would use to describe myself as person. A career in real estate would allow me to utilize said skills above, as well as my interpersonal skills, analytical thinking and persuasion skills. This scholarship would make a significant difference in my educational journey and career aspirations. This scholarship would help relieve some of the financial burden of tuition and living fees allowing me to apply all of my focus on my studies. Additionally, using this scholarship to my dream college would allow me to network and connect with industry professionals, furthering my chances of success in the real estate field. My long term goal is to become a real estate agent, and eventually, a real estate broker. While a degree is not required in this field, it would help further educate me on the tools I need in this profession, making me a better agent. I envision myself managing a team of dedicated, powerful, minority professionals dedicated in providing exceptional service to clients, making a positive impact on our community and never discriminating against any clients. I plan on giving tons of families their dream homes in their desired area and price range. I recall countless times I’ve faced hardship, within myself and family. From countless breakdowns from trying to upkeep my grades to the countless number of health scares I’ve witness within my immediate family, last year was rough to say the least. I felt myself and my faith tearing apart each second I was in this world. I, however, overcame it with the power of God and family. These adversaries made me believe that 2024 will be my golden year. The year I will do better in my studies, have better tactics in dealing stressful situations, and be better personally. Those past setbacks set me up for nothing more than greatness and I plan on living up to it. I’ve already received an ACT score of a 22, which I got my first time ever taking it. I’ve also received a’s and b’s in all my classes this year too. I was struggling in Algebra, I finally got it back up into the high b’s. These are small, but but important steps to accomplishing my goals of 2024 being my golden year. Overall, this scholarship will significantly contribute to journey towards becoming a real estate broker, allowing me to pursue my education and career goals with greater focus and dedication. It will provide me with the necessary resources and opportunities to excel in the field and make a meaningful impact on the business and real estate field being a young, African American woman from the deep south.
