Bio

I belong to a Typical Nepali family from Nepal. I am a first generation College student in my family and I am so proud of myself for that. My dream is to become an excellent NURSE and serve my community. In my culture, they say we are here on this earth for a purpose as human beings. We should serve the needy and respect our elders. I was raised around this environment by learning values and beliefs for humankind as a first-generation student, and as a nursing student, I am proud to choose this field to serve my nation. However, I don't want to limit myself; my life goal is to help each one no matter where do they belong. I want to go higher and become a Specialty Nurse, and I would like to represent the United States in other countries. I want to serve developing countries that need medical help and education.

Passion and compassion stand as the core rationales underpinning my love for nursing. The bond I developed with my patients while working in the USA as a certified nursing assistant significantly Influenced my drive and energy to pursue a nursing degree. The healthcare industry is changing at a rapid pace. With more decisions made by autonomous robots, computer models, and sensors than ever, the future of healthcare is looking increasingly promising for those willing to commit. Healthcare providers must constantly evolve with the existing digital revolution to remain growing and relevant within this rapidly changing industry. My mission for joining the healthcare industry is to leverage my capabilities to contribute towards improving the health of others by providing personalized support to individuals with chronic diseases. As a first-generation student from a small, developing South Asian country, I have first-hand experience with the barriers to quality health. I fully understand and appreciate these barriers' effects on an individual’s health. Consequently, with this understanding, I intend to reach out to communities traditionally marginalized in healthcare and ensure that they have unlimited access to quality healthcare. This is critical as it will improve health outcomes for all and eventually save the healthcare industry. Finally, I intend to leverage technological advancements to shift from traditional services towards high-value and high-touch services targeted to specific populations for improved health outcomes. Effective health doesn't only impact individuals but communities as well. Some of the contributions I can make to improve the healthcare status of others include public education, which is aimed at raising awareness of available health services. This can take the form of educating the public on various health topics or providing health-related information and support to patients who cannot access the services. This can be done by leveraging social media and digital resources. Further, I intend to volunteer my time and resources to conduct non-clinical research to improve treatment effectiveness for chronic diseases. This can be done by analyzing large data sets from various sources to provide insights on improving patient care and outcome. Moreover, I intend to volunteer my time by providing hands-on support in a clinical setting to gain insight into the routine treatment of chronic diseases to improve patient care, decrease costs and increase efficiency. Lastly, I intend to engage with patients from various geographic regions and ethnicities to ensure that they can receive high-quality healthcare wherever they are and whenever they need it. I also intend to contribute by providing evidence-based solutions to improve the health of others by leveraging data, analytics and artificial intelligence to guide health interventions, patient monitoring and improved medical care. I will also leverage my experience & expertise to consult on various development efforts to improve the quality of care and delay the onset of chronic diseases. This would enable individuals suffering from chronic diseases to access information about their condition from the comfort of their homes, allowing them to take a more proactive approach to managing their condition with reduced cost and increased efficiency. These measures are aimed at ensuring that I can adapt to and address emerging issues in healthcare while at the same time keeping abreast with technological advancements that are designed to improve health outcomes. Moreover, I must provide the best care I can to individuals to improve their health and well-being. Lastly, I intend to keep abreast with changes and trends in the healthcare industry to apply my skills and knowledge to issues as they arise.

Traveling to a new country can be challenging. Adapting to a new way of life away from all you know is a daunting task, especially if you're moving away from your family and friends. Traveling to the United States was not an easy task for me, and for the first few years, I suffered, playing the part of a vulnerable immigrant. I came to America for better education to further myself and my family. I knew the U.S. would provide me with an equal opportunity to excel in life and improve the economic situation of my family and community back home. However, I was not prepared for the reception I received when I first entered the country. I came from a tiny country Nepal on a family-based visa. Like many other immigrants, I faced common issues such as cultural assimilation, language disparity, and racial profiling. It was hard to fit in, and I struggled to adapt first to the food and the language and then later on to the culture. However, through sheer willpower and determination, I was able to learn the way of life and adapt myself accordingly. I was able to start my career as an HHA and later enrolled to complete my CNA training. Luckily I was able to secure employment in a renowned hospital where I thought my career would take off. However, this was far from reality. During my time at this hospital, I was bullied and discriminated against because I was considered an outsider. I was a harder worker, a trait that endeared me to many patients and the top management team. However, the colleagues I was working with felt that I was receiving undue attention and recognition; as such, they chose to ostracize me. I was depressed, not knowing what to do and where to go, and out of desperation, I decided to remain in the organization. I didn't give up. Passion and compassion stand as the core rationales underpinning my love for nursing. The bond I developed with my patients significantly Influenced my drive and energy to pursue a nursing degree. As a mother of two from a different country and as a first-generation student, nothing was easier for me. My passion for delving into the health spectrum gets hinged on the support I got from the nurses I assisted and the motivation from my parents. The nurses who worked along had immense dexterity and acumen in the nursing realm and consequently instilled in me apposite nursing skills that I would wish to enlighten by pursuing a nursing degree. Further, the nurses I assisted were well versed in evidence-based practice, a maxim I wish to seek advanced knowledge on by pursuing a nursing degree. Today, I am here in the second year of nursing school, about to graduate this year. For all those wounds in my heart and with all hardships I survived to show them my capability and my strength. It was only my determination and patience as well as support from my kind nurses and the love from my patients that helped me achieve where I am right now. I am proud to be a Nepali and a South Asian. I believe that one can rise above social, economic, or cultural circumstances. I aim to become an excellent nurse one day and give back to the community through my work. I believe that through education and hard work, one can travel far and achieve their goals. More importantly, I believe everyone should be given an equal opportunity to succeed and be treated with respect and dignity.

Despite being a hard worker, I could not escape the racism and discrimination that is rampant in the healthcare industry. Working in this hospital was extremely stressful for me, as I felt as though my employer was not doing anything to foster inclusivity among their employees. No one was. It was a devastating experience for me and caused me immense pain. I was depressed, not knowing what to do and where to go, and out of desperation, I decided to remain in the organization. In the same period, I got pregnant with my second child. However, given the challenges I faced with my first pregnancy, I decided to quit and concentrate on raising my children. This allowed me an opportunity to recalibrate and plan my future goals. I moved to a new phase in my life where I am happier and more secure. But because I was so traumatized back in the hospital, I made a conscious decision that I would speak out against such incidences in the future. However, my new station has been ideal for me. I have dreamt of becoming a nurse since my childhood. My supportive mother inspired me to pursue my career wish because I am passionate about healthcare and love helping others. She also wanted to become a nurse but family obligations and finances did not allow it. My dream entails helping people in their time of need. My healthcare experiences, education, and current endeavors are crucial in helping me become a nurse. The key to motivation is desire, commitment, and determination to achieve goals and become an excellent nurse. I am a 40-year-old mother of two young kids, a First-Generation College student, belongs to Nepal an underdeveloped country, and I am unemployed right now. Currently, my husband is the only source of income. Due to my financial situation, I must maintain my GPA to enter a competitive university. I want to become a nurse to make a difference in people's lives. Seeing how hard nurses work and their commitment makes me more excited about this profession. Becoming an excellent nurse is a dream that I want to achieve. I dream of becoming a nurse because I am a fan of the nursing profession and want to help people, make a difference in other people's lives, and save them from the pain they are experiencing. As a highly motivated student with strong academic capabilities, I have decided to study nursing because it allows me to devote my life to helping people who deserve help. Hence, I need to stay eligible and get a higher education to fulfill my dream of becoming an excellent nurse. I have a 3.3 GPA and outstanding performance in my clinical nursing student practices. Time and again, my professors have recognized me as a respectful, kind, and compassionate nursing student. I maintain this by keeping my focus on studying and wanting to achieve my childhood dream of becoming an excellent nurse. My current endeavors in fulfilling my dream are not just undergraduate courses at school or studying outside my field but also volunteering at the hospital every Saturday and Sunday morning. During these sessions, patients look forward to seeing me and being nice enough to tell me that they miss having a nurse by their side due to new changes with the development of technology. Assisting them in daily activities like washing, giving medications, or comforting accident or surgery victims seems challenging. However, such acts require me to devote myself to their troubles entirely. These patients can achieve their well-being through my support. I want to become a nurse because I consider helping people the most crucial thing in my life, and by becoming a nurse, I would get the opportunity to do so. As much as I would love to be a doctor or doctor-in-training, my dream will always be the same: offering the best care possible while helping others achieve their goals. One of the essential qualities I like to live by is giving back to the community and helping others achieve their well-being. Therefore, I must have the necessary skills to communicate effectively with patients and families to become an outstanding nurse. Volunteering has been a vital experience because it allows me to connect with patients and their families. I have a heavy heart for the people in hospitals and care deeply about them. I am also organized and a hard worker determined to achieve my goals and make my family proud. For this reason, I opted to take a course that aligned with my career aspirations, with my ultimate goal being to undertake a Bachelor’s degree in nursing. I am much grateful for meeting with my loving husband, who inspired me to a nursing course in America. He helped me with the selection and application for an Associate’s degree in one of the famed campus in Fort Worth, Texas. He also helped me bond with some of his friends serving in the healthcare sector. My crucial consideration for starting with an ADN was our financial standing because the costs of pursuing a degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing in prominent American Medical Campuses are higher compared to that of an ADN degree. However, the associate's nursing degree provides skills essential in the healthcare sector. It could help me qualify to work in pediatrics, family medicine, substance abuse, hospice, emergency care, and oncology, among other sub-sectors. In this light, I considered taking an ADN course as appropriate, seeing it could equip me with the critical skills necessary in having a solid foundation for my career aspirations. I started my ADN degree in the Spring semester, 2022. My family received the news about my admission with much joy, for I would be the first person to undertake an undergraduate course in my family. It brought a speck of hope for a better future for myself, my family, and the community at large. I moved to the U.S 8 years ago to enroll for the ADN degree, and finally I am hoping to exploit the opportunity as the start of an incredible career journey. I am the first person to move to America in my family, and they all have high hopes that the admission is for the best. My family hopes that I can use the opportunity to enhance my chances to get a dream job in the health sector. However, my only worry is that my family may not keep up with the financial pressure, especially after the disruption that COVID-19 brought to their respective workplaces. I hope to find a way to keep up with all the financial needs as I proceed with my ADN studies to complete the course. If this happens, I will not hesitate to get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, which will be another critical step closer to my career dreams. Educational achievements in nursing will be instrumental in giving me a solid future and contentment. Working in the health care field is like giving back to my community, I can serve the community in a way that I have been aspiring, and enhancing the chances of improving the living conditions of my immediate family and ensure that the future of my children is secured.

I was born and raised in Nepal, hailing from a humble Family background. My family has not been financially stable, with my parents gathering money merely enough to cater to all basic needs. My passion for education, specifically in the field of nursing, is the sole reason that triggered me to move to America, and I hope to exploit the chance optimally. Despite coming from a humble background, I am grateful that my parents have tried their best to invest in my education and that of my siblings. Their dedication allowed me to join an excellent high school with adequate learning resources and support, enhancing my educational success. I passed my high school final exams, qualifying for various undergraduate courses. My passion has been to be an instrumental figure in the healthcare sector and help the community establish and implement advanced healthcare policies. For this reason, I opted to take a course that aligned with my career aspirations, with my ultimate goal being to undertake a Bachelor’s degree in nursing. I am much grateful for meeting with my loving husband, who inspired me to a nursing course in America. He helped me with the selection and application for an associate’s degree in one of the famed campuses in America, before moving to America. My crucial consideration for starting with an ADN was our financial standing; because the costs of pursuing a degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing in prominent American Medical Campuses are higher compared to that of an ADN degree. My admission request was accepted, and I received emails confirming my successful admission. It brought a speck of hope for a better future for myself, my family, and the community at large.
