I have played baseball for almost my entire life. I started playing tee ball at age two and have been in love with the sport ever since. I have played for numerous teams throughout little league and travel ball and have created friendships and bonds that will last my entire life. I currently play for my high school team, the Bishop Eustace Crusaders. Our goal this year is to win a state championship, which we have come up short of the past two years I have attended (my freshman year was canceled due to COVID-19). I started at second base during my sophomore year and eventually moved to shortstop. I had the opportunity to be surrounded by a few Division 1 players and a second-round draft pick. Hopefully, this year we can end the season in a dog pile! My favorite player of all time is Ryan Howard. My dad and I have been die-hard Phillies fans for my entire life. We always watch the games together at night and have gone to many with the rest of my family. For some reason, I always loved watching Ryan Howard. His towering home runs were mesmerizing. I would imitate his swing when I played Wiffle ball with my friends and pretend to be a play-by-play broadcaster, commentating as I would launch Wiffle balls into the trees of my backyard. I remember watching his last game and seeing him fly out in his final at-bat. That brought me to tears, as it was the end of an era for the Phillies. However, this year I had the pleasure of watching my Phillies advance all the way to the World Series. Although they did not come out on top, they exceeded the expectations of probably every baseball fan out there. After a few free-agent signings this year, hopefully, they can make it back to the World Series and bring home a title. I am a shortstop. When I first began playing travel baseball, I played interchangeably in both left and right field. Playing the outfield at a young age can be tedious, as there are not many opportunities to make plays. Thus, I focused on my hitting for the most part. I slowly evolved into an infielder and played third base as time passed. High school is when I began to play both shortstop and second base regularly. The shortstop is generally seen as the infield captain, and I have assimilated into that role now, especially as a senior. As a primary shortstop, I have found my position and absolutely embraced it.
