Hello! I'm Rafaela D'Almeida, a proud queer Latina student with a passion for making a difference. As an immigrant from Brazil, I understand the challenges faced by marginalized communities.
My studies in sociology and pre-law reflect my commitment to empowering and advocating for marginalized groups. My goal is to ensure their voices are heard and their rights protected.
I received the Verizon Wireless Do Good Grant in 2018 for my philanthropic work supporting the homeless in Chicago. I also founded a non-profit focused on environmentalism and human rights, combining my passion for social justice with entrepreneurship. I've gained valuable experience working with Fortune 500 companies, honing my business acumen in the legal and entrepreneurial spheres.
Community building is a core value for me. I organize cleanup events and support local coffee shops to foster a cleaner, more sustainable environment and encourage small businesses. Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time with my companion, Charlie, who has taught me patience, love and responsibility.
As the first in my low-income family to pursue a college education, I'm driven to break the cycle of limited opportunities. My journey has made me resilient and compassionate, prepared to tackle future challenges. With my multicultural background, dedication to social justice, and commitment to improving lives, I believe I am a strong candidate for scholarships that align with my goals.
Thank you for considering my story and the impact I hope to make. Together, we can build an inclusive and equitable future for all.
