Hi! I am Rachel and I am from a family who gets financial help from the government. I am going to Nazareth in the fall of 2026 and I am going to be majoring in psychology and focusing on children's psychology! My family has always struggled with money but we make it work and have the necessities and usually get a couple of wants if we have extra money. If I can get scholarships and not have to worry about debts and it would be wonderful not just for me but for my mom and I am going to be a first generation college student in my family and if my family can not worry about having to deal with saving money and putting money away for college that would be amazing.

am Rachel and I am from a small town in NYS called Dundee, I come from a low income family but that has never stopped my mom from giving me anything I needed or wanted, I am going to Nazareth in the fall of 2026 for psychology and focusing on children's psychology and I am a Christian who found Jesus during a struggle with mental health and losing a family member. I am applying to this scholarship because if I can get a good amount of scholarships it will help me and my mom not worry about needing funds in order to get through college and I am relaying heavy on scholarships and financial aid to help me with college because of the fact I am from a low income family and I am applying to everything that I can to help me with college so I do not have to go into serious debt for college, I have always wanted to go to college but I did debate on what I wanted to study until a few years ago I fell in love with psychology and wanting to help kids with their mental health because I know the psychology field when it comes to children keep dwindling and going down in providers because of the treatment and other reasons, I had many different counselors when I was younger and every year I kept getting a new one and that made me not want to open up because of the fact I did not get to make a bond with them and they just would leave the next year. In recent years I started seeing a counselor again to help with my mental health and help me with an eating disorder that was caused by a bad relationship which led to poor mental health. She helped me in ways that I did not think was possible and because of the fact she wanted to help and always had her door open for me to go talk to her when I needed her gave me more ambition to become a children's mental health professional so I can be a constant person in their life they can turn to so they do not have to deal with the fact they lose someone who they are meant to trust and be able to turn and talk to, As a Christan were told not to judge and I would never judge someone who is struggling

A high school teacher who has influenced me would probably be my english teacher Ms. Nolan she always enjoyed the stories I would write and she was my first high school teacher when I started middle school during covid, she would never say anything bad or alter any of my work and since we do change teachers she was not my teacher again until 9th grade and that was a year I really struggled and barely opened up about my life due to friend issues and relationship issues but once we got to a unit and learned about the freedom writes I decided that it was time to open up and share my stories, I wrote about my uncle and how my childhood was when I was with him and how much that his death impacted me and then I told the story about my father and how much damage he caused in the family and she never judged she just quietly supported me and after we finished that unit she have me the freedom writers book with a note about how she admired me for telling my story and I keep that book on my shelf and if I ever feel down I will go back to her note and read it. I know when I go to college that book will be coming with me and sitting somewhere where I can look at it and be close to me if i need the support and I know after I graduate I could always contact her and have her to help me with any sort of essay and I hope that I can be like her when I become a counselor/ therapist because I want kids to know if the only way they can open up and tell me their life is by writing about it then I will still support them and if I can help them through writing I will because I know that it is hard to open up about the hardships in life because you will always feel like your being judged but when she was able to read my story about my dad to the class, I did not feel judged everyone made me feel better about myself because they had nice things to say and did not make me feel bad about hating the my father for what he did, she made sure everyone who wanted to share their story could and she even had an option to have herself read it if we were not comfortable sharing it on our own and she made them anonymous for the people who had her read it and I hope that I can change a child's life like that and then they go on latter in life and write about how much I impacted their life in a great way and that will be one goal is to have each child I work with to open up and share their story with me and feel the support I give them from learning their story.

There is so much I have not been able to do because we did not have the money so if I can get a good amount of scholarships I am hoping that it will help me with the future and cause me not to be in a big amount of debt and i feel like the more scholarships I apply to the less I have to worry and the less my mom will worry about me getting through college. I have always wanted to go to college but i did have times where I could not decide what I should go to college for and then I found my love for psychology a couple years ago and finally got to take a psychology class my school offers and I fell in love with psychology even more and if I can get scholarships to continue school I know it will help me better myself and help me raise focus around what needs to be focused on and thats childrens mental health. If I can make a change in the future by being able to get a scholarships to help me continue my learning journey I will love to be able to help teens in the future who want to presue psychology by donating and making a scholarship of something to help them because psychology is looked down and were losing people in the psychology field because its a high demanding job that drains a person after awhile and I know it might drain me after a while but I want to make a change and no matter what I will not quit because I know its the job I want and its what I want for my future and hopefully with this you will consider me for the scholarships! I know what I want and thats is to improve childrens mental health.
