Bio

Ever since I was in High school I wanted to be different, I knew I was different then everyone else but not in a good way. I wasn't the kind of girl to go to school games or have a lot of friends. I grew up with ADHD but I didn't want to let that stop me from achieving my goals, I wanted to use that to my advantage. I am a very creative and hands-on person. I can do many things like sew, crochet, paint and make anything I put my heart too! I am passionate about making new things from my favorite Videos games, Animes and TV shows like Attack on Titan, Stranger Things and Five nights at Freddys. I am always working on something new, whether its for a convention, a gift, or just because I like it. I think I would be a great candidate for your Scholarship Winner is because I plan on using it for my future in creating new and amazing works of art in the form of clothing, art canvas or anything in that nature! As of right now I plan on Transferring to University of North Carolina in Greensboro from Guilford Technical Community College, with the degree of Drama, B.F.A. Design and Technical Production, one day working in behind the scenes in movies or plays.

My passion is Design, more like Art design. I love to draw, paint and creative so many different things. I am currently studying at community college at Guilford Technical Community College and I plan on transferring to University of North Carolina in Greensboro (UNCG) for Graphic Design. I have been drawing ever sine I was about 5 years old and I am currently 20 years old, I would copy the drawing out of my favorite books or draw my favorite my little pony dolls. I used to take every opportunity in middle to high school to do any kind of drawing if it was apart of an assignment. My favorite kind of art project would be definitely either recreating something from one of my favorite shows into real life or making a simple drawing into a realistic drawing. My favorite kind of art style is realistic drawings that are in a simple art style. Currently I am in my second to last semester at my community college and I have been working really hard on all my Math and English classes. However, I plan on taking drawing and art classes next semester like 2D Drawing and 3D Drawing as well. I am very excited about these classes and I am going to join the art clubs as well. I love to draw all the time, but I would say that my biggest weakness would be that I tend to not finish my drawings if I don't have the right flow or inspiration for it. Typically when I am doing an art project I can see it in my head how It will come out or I will plan it out. Now that I am getting more into the art and drawing portion of my career path I plan on filling my whole life up with everything art related. I am going to draw on my iPad on procreate more often as well as use Adobe Photoshop and learn all it is to Graphic Design with all of the creative minds all around me. When I transfer to UNCG, I want to join the Art Club and I want to very involved with the art aspect in the school. I hope to one day get a job with graphic deign company where I get to express my creativity and my own thoughts. I would take all the creative skills and also life skills from living in a university and I would apply them to whatever job I may get in my future.

Art is a way to express yourself, It means a lot to me. Most of my art projects I do is motivated by people I love or things I love. It always takes me a while to get a really good idea or concept going, but when I do? Oh it feels amazing. Its almost like euphoric in a way. When I get an idea for an art piece or a craft, I can see the whole thing planned out in my head, I will tend to work on it nonstop and I wont stop until I'm either finished or done with one section of it. Being able to express myself with are makes me who I am and I use it to drive me, it is my passion to make art. In my family and school, I didn't grow up around creative people that feel the way I feel about art, so it was hard to express myself. In high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my future, and because of Covid, I struggled in school. With everyone taking online classes, I failed two of my classes. Fortunately, when I returned to in-person schooling for my last year, I had a guest speaker in my Appeal and Textiles class who told us about her job. She encouraged me, expanded my horizons, and helped me determine what I wanted to be in the future. Every time I relive that moment, it motivates me to keep moving forward. I began studying every day, staying after class, applying for scholarships. I hope to inspire other people one day that may be in the same position as me to also push themselves to not only do more, but to peruse their dreams like I am.

Creativity is a feeling that I always strive for. When I get excited about a project it so hard for me to not talk about it, so I talk to my mom about it from start to finish. My mom is a part of why I am so creative, she is always pushing me to be my best and whenever I tell myself "Eh maybe its a big too much for this", she'll tell me "That's not like you to say 'its too much', I think you should do it". My mom is my biggest advocate for me and she tends to even give me ideas on what I should do, even if its something she's not familiar with. No matter what she is always trying to support my dreams no matter how much I change it. When it comes to my art projects and wither it is a painting, drawing, sewing project or craft, it is always related to something or someone I love, I have done school projects when it requires a drawing of the sort and I will relate to something I love and I will draw it or make it with that in it. Most of my art projects are inspired by things I love because it tends to give me the drive or the push I need. Even when I'm in the middle of the project and I lose the motivation for it, I will either add something else to it and then I'll get excited about it, and me getting excited about it, makes me get excited about my future and inspires me to do more projects. One day I hope to inspire other people, especially younger children who struggle with expressing themselves with things they love so they don't have to hold who they really truly are inside. I believe that everyone deserves to express who they are and to be happy with in themselves. Because when you're happy with yourself, you can be happy with others.

I feel that all sorts of mental health are unique, but also the same. What I mean is that, when it comes to mental health, we all need help at times, regardless of whether we have ADHD, Autism, or OCD. I have ADHD, and I grew up not understanding it, but I was aware that I was different from the other students at my school. My ADHD has taught me to put myself in the shoes of others and to be more compassionate toward people from all walks of life. I struggled with schoolwork, particularly math and paying attention. It deeply effected my education at one point and got worse during the Covid-19 years. My mom told me that I was diagnosed with it at a young age but never got me tested because she didn't want me to be treated differently then the other students in school, but that happened anyways. It helped me be alone for a while and find out who I really am, attract people who are like me and learn who are true to themselves. It helped me learn that in school there is only a few people that are truly your friends and will last at a young age. During the Mandated Lockdown during Covid, I was beginning my freshman year of high school and ended at the end of my Junior year. Because of it I lost my high school experience and because of my ADHD I struggled extremely bad in online school and failed 2 of my classes. The teachers told me that if I didn't "retake the classes and pass" then I would be held back. Thankfully I was inspired by someone who helped me find out what career I wanted to pursue in my future. I took my love for Film and art, and decided to fixate on it. I studied hard day and night to turn in all my work and pass all my classes. I am currently working on going to University of North Carolina in Greensboro for Design and Technical Production. I try to us my ADHD as a super power in some ways. For example, I use it to create things from my favorite Music, Artists, TV Shows and Video games. I try to make them as accurate as possible as well as try to use things I have already at home. Its funny actually that I met my Boyfriend and we first bonded over our favorite anime at the time and he was attracted to how I made my Costumes. So like I said before, when it comes to finding out who you truly are, you will attract people who are like you. I tend to always relate things to my ADHD, and when I do that it helps me become a better person overall and helps me to learn new things on how to make life easier for me.

I remained at home from my freshman to junior year of high school because to Covid-19. I had no idea what the future held for me. I was stuck at home for days on end, failing two of my classes, severely depressed, and suffering from uncontrolled ADHD. Because I was so sad during those days, I had no hope for the future. Being stuck at home and missing over 75% of my high school experiences made it difficult for me to motivate myself to make friends and havew normal teenage experiences. Fortunately when I returned to in-person schooling during my final year, I had a guest speaker in my Appeal and Textiles class who spoke with us about her job. She inspired me, broadened my horizons, and helped me realize what I wanted to become in my future. Combining my passions for clothing, movies, and art, I vowed that day I was going to change myself and do everything in my power to get there. I began studying every day, staying after class, applying for scholarships and asking my mother for advice on what I should do for the first time. I delved deeper into the field of creative arts with movies and knew exactly what I wanted to pursue. Till this day I am trying to learn how I can do better with my skills and experiences. I still talk to her who inspired me today and she is a good friend of mine who I hope to become like one day too. I wish to one day take more classes on learning how to make better clothing, more creativity. I love to make things with things I may have already in my home. I think it makes it more genuine and shows how much hard work goes into making it. I am currently learning how to make my own clothes that I take from other pieces of clothing. I wanna expand my creative styles and make clothes for all sizes one day and all kinds of people. I hope to one day make clothes for Billie Eilish, Melanie Martinez, Sabrina Carpenter, or Chappell Roan. I want make make creative costumes that is not like anything else that anyone has seen. I hope to inspire other people one day that may be in the same postition as me to also push themselves to not only do more but to peruse their dreams like I am.
