Mad Genius Scholarship
My novel mashup, a fusion of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice with a modern sci-fi twist, was born from a late-night brainstorm sparked by Mad Genius's innovative food mashups. I've always loved Austen's witty social commentary, but I wondered how her characters would navigate a world of advanced technology and interstellar travel. The idea of Elizabeth Bennet wielding a holographic PADD instead of a quill ignited my creativity, blending classic literature with futuristic flair.
The inspiration struck while I was experimenting in the kitchen, inspired by Mad Genius's Cheesburger Quesadillas. Combining unexpected elements-beef patties and melted cheese in a tortilla-mirrored my desire to merge two seemingly disparate genres. I began by re-reading Pride and Prejudice, noting themes of class and independence that could translate to a space colony setting. What if the Bennet family lived on a terraformed Mars, where Darcy was a wealthy interplanetary engineer? This setting allowed me to explore how technology might amplify or challenge their dynamics.
My thought process involved outlining key plot points. I kept Austen's core romance but added a subplot where Elizabeth hacks a corporate Al to expose Darcy's firm's unethical mining practices, reflecting her sharp intellect in a digital age. I drafted scenes in a notebook, sketching futuristic attire-think Regency gowns with LED accents-and mapped out a Martian estate with biodomes. To tie it to the mashup theme, I wove in food fusion moments, like a ball featuring "Martian scones" made from local algae, symbolizing cultural blending.
The challenge was balancing authenticity with innovation. I researched space colonization basics to ground the sci-fi elements, ensu the story felt plausible. Feedback from my writing club helped refine dialogue, keeping Austen's elegance while adding modern slang.
The process taught me to embrace bold combinations, much like Mad Genius's culinary creations, and to trust my creative instincts.
This mashup reflects my passion for storytelling and my admiration for Mad Genius's mission to unleash potential. I hope it showcases how creativity can transcend boundaries, much like their snacks bridge flavors. Submitting this work is my chance to celebrate unconventional ideas and connect with a community that values them.
Learner SAT Tutoring Scholarship
Last year, I sat in my room, staring at a practice SAT math problem I couldn't solve, my frustration mounting. That moment sparked a turning point. I realized that mastering the SAT wasn't just about the score—it was about building discipline and unlocking my future.
This personal challenge drives my preparation and shapes my goals as I approach the test.
My preparation is structured and intentional. I dedicate two hours each weekday to SAT study, splitting my time between math, reading, and writing sections. I use Khan Academy's free SAT resources, taking timed practice tests to simulate exam conditions and track my progress. My math skills, once a weak point, have improved by 50 points after focusing on algebra and geometry with online tutorials. On weekends, I review mistakes from practice tests, jotting notes to avoid repeating errors. I also joined a study group with classmates, where we quiz each other an v share strategies, making the process collaborative and less isolating. This routine, honed over months, has built my confidence and sharpened my test-taking skills.
My goals with the SAT extend beyond a number. Primarily, I aim to achieve a score of 1400 to qualify for merit-based scholarships at my target colleges, which include state universities with strong engineering programs.
A high score will reduce financial barriers, allowing me to pursue a degree in civil engineering without excessive loans. Beyond that, I want to use the SAT as a stepping stone to develop critical thinking and time-management skills, qualities I'll need in college and my career. I envision designing sustainable infrastructure, and the discipline I'm gaining now will support that dream.
Challenges have tested my resolve. Balancing SAT prep with schoolwork and part-time job hours at a local bookstore was tough. There were days I felt overwhelmed, but l adjusted by prioritizing tasks and seeking help from my study group. This resilience is part of my preparation, teaching me to adapt under pressure-skills the SAT and life demand.
Looking ahead, I plan to take the SAT in November, giving me two more months to refine my weak areas, especially the reading section's dense passages. After the test, l' evaluate my score and decide if a retake is needed, ensuring I maximize my potential. My ultimate goal is to translate this effort into academic success, using the scholarship to fuel my education and contribute to my community through engineering projects.
This journey has taught me that preparation is more than studying-it's about growth. The SAT is a milestone, but my real aim is to build a foundation for a future where I can solve problems, like that math question that once stumped me, and make a lasting impact.

Our Destiny Our Future Scholarship
The earth is filled with a lot of grandeur and radiance. But even with all of its glories and beauty, there are still plenty of difficulties and problems. We all acknowledge that there is room for improvement in the world. Many individuals want to create a better world and make it a better place to live, yet it can be quite difficult to take on the entire globe as a project. How can a mission of this scope and importance even begin? What can a single person perform effectively with basic resources? There are undoubtedly actions we can take to contribute to the development of a better world, and the consequences will be rewarding. But after all of that, we still need to ask, "What is wrong with the world"? If you don't know what's wrong with the world, you can't do anything to make it better. We, the people, are, in my opinion, the world's problem. Every element of this world's natural beauty from the sands of the earth to the priceless children is destroyed, harmed, and mistreated by us. An enormous step toward a better world would be for each of us to go within, touch ourselves, and deal with the inner and outer flaws of our own lives. I believe that if you want to change something, you must first improve yourself. I must take control of my strength of mind, body, and spirit to carry out my endeavor to make the world a better place. I need to project a powerful person that is full of honor and integrity, and I need to show that I am a special, one-of-a-kind being that cannot be replaced. I'm going to take charge of my life, my behavior, and my destiny. Many issues can be improved by starting at home and with oneself. Because of that solid foundation, taking the crucial step toward personal growth, accountability, and maturity will inform all other choices I make in my life. Not only will I increase my self-esteem, but I will also raise the world's future ambassadors, doctors, missionaries, and just plain "good people." Appreciating myself as well as the freedom of others provides the foundation for ethical societal connections and cultivates positive personal and professional associations. More people who are kind, grateful, caring, and conscious are needed in the world. Another way to help the world is to help disabilities. I would work to improve how people with physical and mental disabilities are treated and seen. I strive for a world in which they are celebrated rather than marginalized. My aim is that persons with disabilities would be invited to share their unique capabilities. My hope is that people with disabilities will become an important part of the discussion about what it means to live fully. The world needs a change.
Ethel Hayes Destigmatization of Mental Health Scholarship
My mental health has made me realize what future I want for myself. It has helped me understand that the importance of keeping our world clean benefits us. I want to be a journalist in the future and go to Duke University for 4 years.
Going through life I have tried different hobbies and even though writing wasn't the obvious choice but I realized in my free time I used to write stories.
As I became older and realized I'm good at it and some of my teachers have said I should take creative writing classes. I chose to follow that dream and it seems that I want that to be my future.
I'm not sure about pass relationships because I haven't had very many considering I'm only 14, but they seem to work out well enough.
When I start high school in a few weeks I am planning on joining a community service club called key club and I am joining not only because it looks good on college applications but also because even if we only do small stuff it all benefits the world in a small way.
Using my passion for life and passion for the world I managed to create a clear future for myself even though there are going to be some bumps and changes in my future I feel that now that I have a plan I can work on grades and have fun. So, you see my whole life I worked on academic all my life it was A's all the time. I never played sports and never had very many friends. I have had my future planned out since I was little and that's going to change.
My mental health has greatly impacted my goals and understanding of the world.
