I am a high school student with a strong interest in science, healthcare, and helping others. Growing up, I have always been curious about how the human body works and how medicine can improve lives. My experiences with my family and community have shaped my values and inspired me to pursue a career where I can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. I believe that education, dedication, and compassion are essential tools for creating a positive impact, and I plan to use all three as I work toward my goals.
One of the experiences that has influenced me the most was witnessing a family member go through a serious health challenge. I saw firsthand how medical professionals not only provided treatment but also offered support and understanding during difficult times. This inspired me to think about how I could combine science and care to help people in need. It also taught me that healthcare is more than medicine. It is about building trust, listening to patients, and treating them with respect. I want to carry these lessons into my career by ensuring that everyone I work with feels seen, valued, and supported.
I plan to pursue a career in pharmacy because it allows me to directly help people manage their health and improve their quality of life. Pharmacists play a crucial role in healthcare by providing guidance on medications, helping prevent harmful interactions, and educating patients about their treatments. I am drawn to this field because it combines my passion for science with my desire to serve others. By pursuing a pharmacy degree, I hope to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions, contribute to medical advancements, and support patients in achieving better health outcomes.
Beyond the technical aspects of pharmacy, I want to make a positive impact on the world by addressing issues of accessibility and education in healthcare. I understand that not everyone has equal access to medical resources or the information needed to make informed health decisions. I want to be part of a solution by helping patients understand their medications, advocating for affordable healthcare, and participating in community programs that promote wellness and prevention. By empowering individuals with knowledge, I hope to improve both individual health and the overall well-being of communities.
In addition to my career goals, I am committed to personal growth and leadership. I take every opportunity to challenge myself academically and participate in activities that develop my communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. These experiences have taught me the importance of perseverance, resilience, and empathy. These are qualities that are essential for making a meaningful impact in any career. I hope to use these qualities to inspire others, support those in need, and contribute to positive change in my community.
Ultimately, I want to make a lasting difference in the world by combining my passion for healthcare with my dedication to helping others. I believe that even small acts of kindness and understanding can have a ripple effect, improving lives and inspiring others to do the same. Through my career as a pharmacist and my commitment to community engagement, I hope to create a future where people feel cared for, informed, and empowered to live healthier lives. I am excited to continue learning, growing, and using my skills to make a positive impact on the world around me.

In 2021, my family experienced a profound loss when my uncle died by suicide. At first, I did not fully understand the weight of what had happened, but the impact became clear as I watched my father grieve. Seeing my dad, someone I had always known as strong, dependable, and emotionally steady, break down in ways I had never witnessed before was deeply unsettling. His pain made the reality of suicide feel immediate and personal, rather than distant or abstract. It also showed me how a single tragedy can ripple through a family, affecting everyone in ways that are both visible and invisible.
Before this experience, mental health felt like a distant topic, something discussed in general terms rather than something that could touch my own family. Losing my uncle changed that perspective entirely. I began to understand that suicide does not end with one life lost, but leaves behind unanswered questions, guilt, and deep sorrow for those who loved the person. Watching my father struggle with the loss of his brother showed me how grief can be overwhelming, isolating, and exhausting, even for people who seem strong on the outside. I realized that everyone carries hidden struggles, and that emotional pain can affect anyone, regardless of how composed they may appear.
This experience also taught me the importance of empathy and open communication. I became more attentive to the emotional well-being of those around me, especially my family. I learned that sometimes the most important thing you can do is simply be present, to listen without judgment, and to offer reassurance when words fail. My perspective on mental health changed completely, I understood that seeking help is not weakness and that being honest about struggles can save lives. I also recognized the value of expressing emotions openly, something I had previously avoided out of fear of burdening others.
Although my uncle’s passing left a permanent mark on my family, it also reshaped how I approach relationships and responsibility toward others. It taught me that compassion, patience, and awareness can be life changing. I carry this lesson with me every day, striving to support others and check in on them in ways that I hope can prevent someone from feeling alone or overwhelmed. This experience has instilled in me a deep commitment to mental health advocacy, empathy, and connection, and it continues to influence the way I live and interact with the people I care about.

I plan to improve the lives of others through a career in healthcare by becoming a pharmacist who is deeply involved in patient education, advocacy, and long term care. Pharmacists play a critical role beyond dispensing medication. They are often the most accessible healthcare professionals, and this position allows them to build trusting relationships with patients while helping them understand and manage complex treatment plans. Through this role, I hope to make healthcare less overwhelming and more empowering, especially for individuals living with chronic lung diseases and rare medical conditions.
Patients with lung diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or pulmonary fibrosis often rely on multiple medications, inhalers, and therapies to maintain their quality of life. As a pharmacist, I envision myself working closely with these patients to ensure they know how to properly use their inhalers, understand their medications, and feel confident managing their symptoms. Improper inhaler technique is a common issue that can significantly reduce the effectiveness of treatment. By providing clear demonstrations, checking technique regularly, and answering questions in an approachable way, I can help patients breathe easier and avoid unnecessary hospital visits.
For individuals with rare medical conditions, navigating the healthcare system can be especially isolating and frustrating. These patients often face delayed diagnoses, limited treatment options, and medications that are difficult to access or extremely expensive. As a pharmacist, I want to serve as an advocate who helps bridge the gap between patients, physicians, and insurance providers. I plan to assist patients in understanding specialized medications, monitoring for side effects, and finding financial assistance programs when treatments are not easily affordable. Simply having someone who is knowledgeable and willing to fight for their access to care can make a meaningful difference in their lives.
In addition, I am passionate about using my role to educate patients and families. Rare diseases and lung conditions often require lifelong management, and education is essential for adherence and safety. I want to take the time to explain how medications work, why consistency matters, and what warning signs to watch for. This knowledge can reduce fear and give patients a greater sense of control over their health. When patients understand their treatment, they are more likely to follow it and feel hopeful about their future.
Beyond individual patient care, I hope to contribute to research and public health efforts focused on lung disease and rare conditions. Pharmacists are increasingly involved in clinical research, medication development, and population health initiatives. By staying informed and engaged in these areas, I can help support advancements that lead to better treatments and outcomes.
Ultimately, my goal as a pharmacist is to be a source of support, clarity, and compassion. By combining scientific knowledge with genuine care, I hope to improve not only physical health but also the confidence and quality of life of those living with lung disease and rare medical conditions.

One innovative, self-initiated project I have been involved in focused on improving health awareness among teenagers in my community, particularly those who may not have easy access to reliable information about wellness and healthcare. While volunteering and interacting with peers at school, I noticed that many students were unsure about nutrition, mental health, or basic self-care, and they often did not feel comfortable asking questions. This lack of knowledge disproportionately affected students from marginalized or underserved backgrounds who may not have access to resources outside of school. I realized that I could take initiative to address this need by creating an educational program specifically designed for teenagers. To meet this need, I organized a series of student-led health workshops at my school. I began by researching credible sources on health topics, including nutrition, mental health, personal hygiene, and basic first aid. I then developed lesson plans and interactive activities that were age-appropriate, engaging, and easy to understand. I worked with school staff to secure space and time for the workshops and promoted the program to students who might benefit most. My role was to lead the workshops, facilitate discussions, and answer questions, while also coordinating the participation of classmates who wanted to help. This project had a direct impact on students who attended. Many participants expressed that they had never received guidance on topics like mental health or medication safety and that the workshops helped them feel more confident about managing their own health. By providing a supportive environment where students could ask questions freely, I was able to empower others to take control of their well-being and make informed choices. The initiative also helped foster a sense of community among students, showing them that they could support one another in learning and growth. This experience influenced my personal growth in multiple ways. It taught me the importance of empathy, creativity, and leadership in addressing real-world problems. I learned how to identify a need, create a solution, and take responsibility for executing it. I also gained valuable skills in communication, planning, and teamwork. Most importantly, I realized the power of using my knowledge and resources to uplift others who may not have access to the same opportunities. Moving forward, I plan to continue serving marginalized and underserved populations by expanding initiatives like this and by pursuing a career in pharmacy. I hope to work in healthcare settings where I can provide guidance, resources, and support to patients who face barriers to accessing care. My goal is to use my education, skills, and passion for helping others to create meaningful and lasting impacts in my community and beyond. This project showed me that even small, self-initiated efforts can make a difference, and it has inspired me to continue finding ways to support those who need it most.

The movie that has had the greatest impact on my life is The Hate U Give. This film tells the story of Starr, a young Black girl who witnesses the police shooting of her best friend and must navigate the challenges of speaking out in her community while balancing her life at school. The movie left a lasting impression on me because it addresses issues of social justice, racism, and the importance of using your voice to stand up for what is right. Lessons that are meaningful not only for society but also for my personal growth. Watching Starr struggle with fear, anger, and the pressure to remain silent made me reflect on how important it is to be aware of what is happening in the world around me and to take responsibility to act when something is unjust. The film taught me that staying quiet in the face of injustice can allow harmful situations to continue, and that one person’s voice can make a difference. Starr’s courage inspired me to be more confident in speaking up about things that matter to me, whether it is in school, my community, or in conversations with friends and family. The movie also showed me the value of community and support. Starr is able to find strength through her family, friends, and mentors, which made me think about the people in my own life who encourage me to be my best self. It reminded me that having a support system is essential, but it also reinforced the idea that we each have a responsibility to help and uplift others. After watching the movie, I became more aware of issues in my own community and started looking for ways I could contribute, even in small ways, such as volunteering, raising awareness, or helping friends understand social justice topics. Additionally, The Hate U Give influenced the way I think about empathy and understanding perspectives that are different from my own. The movie encourages viewers to step into someone else’s shoes and recognize the challenges they face. This has affected the way I approach people in my daily life, making me more thoughtful and intentional in how I listen, communicate, and respond to others. It also inspired me to consider how I can make a positive impact in the future, not just in my community but in broader spaces where inequities exist. Overall, The Hate U Give has inspired me to be brave, compassionate, and socially aware. It has shaped the way I think about justice, community, and my role in creating change. By encouraging me to use my voice, be empathetic, and take action, the movie has influenced how I want to approach my education, my relationships, and my future career. It is a story that reminds me that even young people can make a difference, and it motivates me to continue learning, growing, and standing up for what is right.

I am a hardworking and dedicated high school student who takes pride in my education and strives to make the most of every opportunity to learn and grow. Being an only child has shaped me in many ways. Growing up without siblings, I learned to be independent, self-motivated, and responsible for my actions. I quickly discovered the importance of organization and discipline, because I had to rely on myself to manage schoolwork, activities, and personal goals. At the same time, being an only child encouraged me to value relationships outside of my family and develop empathy for others. I learned to pay attention to the needs of people around me and find ways to help, which inspired my interest in a career where I could make a tangible difference in people’s lives. I plan to make a positive impact on the world through a career in pharmacy. I have always been fascinated by science and healthcare, and I am especially interested in how medications work in the body and how pharmacists play a vital role in keeping communities healthy. Pharmacists do more than dispense medications, they guide patients, answer questions, and ensure people understand how to manage their health safely. I want to be a trusted resource for people, helping them make informed decisions about their health and improving their quality of life. I am particularly motivated to work with patients who may not have easy access to healthcare, because I believe everyone deserves guidance and care regardless of their circumstances. My education has prepared me to pursue this goal. Challenging classes in chemistry and biology have taught me how the body functions and how medications interact with it. I have also participated in volunteer activities and health awareness programs in my community, which gave me the chance to observe healthcare professionals and understand the importance of accuracy, communication, and empathy. These experiences have reinforced my desire to help others and shown me that even small actions, like explaining how to take a medication correctly, can have a meaningful impact on someone’s life. Being an only child has also taught me perseverance, initiative, and self-discipline. I take pride in setting goals for myself and following through, qualities that will serve me well in college and in a healthcare career. I want to combine my dedication to learning, my passion for science, and my desire to help others to create a positive impact, not only for individual patients but also for my community as a whole. Through pharmacy, I hope to improve health outcomes, provide guidance and support, and make a lasting difference in the lives of the people I serve.

I have demonstrated resilience by staying committed to my goals even when challenges seemed overwhelming, and through my actions, I have been able to inspire others to keep going and believe in themselves. One of the clearest examples of this comes from my experience in school, particularly in science and math classes, which have sometimes felt extremely difficult and intimidating. At first, I struggled to understand the material, fell behind on assignments, and even doubted my ability to succeed in these subjects. It would have been easy to give up or accept lower grades, but I refused to let frustration stop me. I created a plan to study more consistently, ask teachers and peers for help when I needed clarification, and break down complex topics into smaller, manageable steps. I dedicated extra time to reviewing notes, practicing problems, and learning from my mistakes rather than letting them discourage me. Over time, my hard work began to pay off, and I noticed improvements not only in my grades but also in my confidence and my ability to tackle challenges head-on. While this was a personal achievement, the experience became even more meaningful when I realized that my persistence inspired others around me. A friend in one of my classes had been struggling with the same material and was feeling frustrated and ready to give up. By continuing to work hard and remain patient with myself, I unknowingly set an example for them. I shared my strategies for studying and staying organized, encouraged them to keep trying even when things felt impossible, and reminded them that mistakes are a normal part of learning. Over time, they began to apply the same approach and gradually saw improvement, which made me feel proud not only of my own resilience but also of my ability to support and motivate someone else. This experience taught me that resilience is not only about overcoming obstacles for yourself but also about how your actions can influence and uplift others. I realized that when you persevere, remain positive, and stay committed even during difficult times, you can inspire others to face their own challenges with courage and determination. Beyond academics, I have applied this mindset in other areas of my life, such as extracurricular activities and personal goals. Whether it is helping a teammate who is struggling in practice, encouraging a younger student who feels nervous about participating in a club, or simply showing through my actions that challenges are opportunities to grow, I try to use my resilience to make a positive impact on those around me. I believe that persistence, hard work, and a positive attitude are qualities that can spread from one person to another, and by demonstrating these traits in my own life, I hope to encourage my peers to keep striving toward their goals, no matter how difficult the journey may seem. Ultimately, learning to push through setbacks and remain focused on long-term goals has helped me grow not only as a student but also as a person, and it has shown me the value of using my experiences to inspire and uplift others.
