My number one goal in life is to help people. I am passionate about spreading happiness and positivity in the world. I don't know if I'll be able to eradicate world hunger or poverty, but I want to know that my life's work made the world a better place. I am a very responsible person and would use the money for great things, which is why I am a great candidate.

It's a stereotype, but it sticks because, just like all the others, it has just a little bit of a truth to it. Growing up in an Indian family, all of the elders are constantly asking you whether you have decided to be a doctor or lawyer when you grow up. I always answered a doctor to get them off my back.
As I grew older, I realized that those two careers and a career in teaching all have one thing in common. All of them involve helping people. That was the thing I truly dreamed about growing up. I want to make a positive difference in the lives of the future generation and I love working with kids and seeing their creativity and innocence. I have always loved going to school just because of the teachers I have had and the passion that they have taught with. For me, school was always a safe place where I would be cared for away from home and that is the kind of place I want to create for my students in the classroom.
In my senior year of high school, I took a class called American Issues. We had discussions about issues in the United States, watched documentaries to better understand these issues, and proposed solutions to these issues. We had one EdPuzzle that I remember strongly called “Lessons from death-row inmates” with David R. Dow on a Ted Talk. In the video, he said one thing that we can all do is support kids from a young age to show them that they don’t have to succumb to negativity and they can do better and be better than their last generation. Kids at that age are just starting to grow and are vulnerable to any major event changing their path in life. I want to be there for those kids and show them that the world can be a better place with them in it. It can get bitter sometimes, but by staying positive and working hard, they can establish themselves on a bright path for a brighter future.
There was a similar theme in the movie, The Ron Clark Story. All of the students in that class needed someone to see them for who they were deep down and give them a chance. Someone to respect them and not assume how capable they were of learning. Mr. Clark raised the expectations for those students and the students also rose to the occasion. Being a teacher like that is what I aim for as a future educator.
