Hello my name is Preston and I am currently enrolled in the Combination/Maritime Welding course at Tidewater Tech in Norfolk, VA. I have chosen to enroll in Welding to challenge myself and grow to become better in life. A better husband and a better son. Welding is a skilled trade that really allows one to push themselves and put in the work to become great! So far I am really enjoying this opportunity to learn this trade. Loving the staff and people that are here and the students that I get to learn with. Sam's story really resonates with me. I wish I had the chance to meet him and learn from him. I believe we would have connected because I also love physical fitness and have a lot of ambition. I am thankful that there's a scholarship for us created in his memory, that is very special. I hope to be considered for this scholarship and to carry on a piece of Sam's story with me on my journey. If selected I promise to uphold and honor his memory by being a superhero like he was. Helping and being generous to my fellow students now, while striving to be bold and innovative in my future career are ways in which I will complete this mission.
