I am a freshman at Kennesaw State University studying civil engineering. In my free time I both play lacrosse and coach a local middle school team. I am very involved in on-campus ministries such as CRU and Ratio Christi. I also work part-time at a plant nursery to help cover college expenses.

Learner Math Lover Scholarship
I just finished Calculus II with the highest grade in my class, and I got a perfect score on the math portion of my SAT. Ever since the fifth grade, people have tried to sit next to me in math class because I was usually the first person to understand what we were learning. For a long time I loved math simply because I was good at it. It was a way to set myself apart from my peers.
When I decided to pursue engineering in college, though, math became much more meaningful to me. Once I started seeing the real-world applications, I realized that math is in everything around us. The table I'm typing on right now was designed using mathematical calculations to make sure it can support the weight without failing. Math explains the forces of gravity upon my body, the motion of cars on the road, and even how humanity put a man on the moon.
What I love most about math is that it is everywhere, even when people don't realize it. Every invention, structure, and piece of technology depends on math in some way. The more advanced math I learn, the more I appreciate how powerful it really is. Math is no longer just my best subject in school, it is something I genuinely want to use to solve problems and improve the world as an engineer.
