I am currently a sophomore at the University of Virginia, interested in pursuing a major in Global Public Health and a minor in Data Science. I will be the first in my family to become a doctor and also the first to go to college in the United States. My goal is to become a doctor and help others throughout my career. I've always wanted to be a shoulder for families to lean on. I feel that with a career in medicine, I'll be able to help people on a more intimate level than other healthcare professions. I'd also like to work in medicine to fight discrimination in healthcare and provide equal care for everyone because disparities in healthcare tear families apart. After hearing from my mom about the impact my pediatrician had on her as a new parent, I hope to become a pediatrician and have the same impact on other new parents. I also have an interest in criminology/criminal justice, as well as, computer science and data science. I LOVE to sing and listen to music, and I am part of Ektaal A Cappella, a South Asian fusion premier a cappella group on UVA grounds! I am passionate about feminism, gender equality, inclusivity, diversity, and activism. I am multilingual and speak Tamil at home; I'm also learning Spanish and Hindi. I enjoy learning about new cultures & traditions and different languages. My friends would describe me as outgoing, resilient, and optimistic.
