Bio

I am an experienced ICU nurse with over 10 years of dedicated service in the healthcare field. As a single mother of three children, I balance my responsibilities with grace and determination, prioritizing both my family and my professional development. Currently, I work part-time, primarily on weekends, allowing me to focus on completing my graduate degree. In addition to my nursing career, I hold a 200-hour yoga certification and am passionate about wellness. I volunteer my time teaching yoga to older populations, sharing the benefits of mindfulness and physical activity with the community. When I do find moments of free time, I enjoy going to the gym to maintain my own health and well-being. My journey is one of resilience and commitment, as I strive to provide for my children while pursuing my goals in nursing and our community.

The Journey of Caregiving: A Personal Reflection Caregiving is often perceived as a daunting task, yet for me, it has been an enriching experience that has shaped both my identity and aspirations. As the primary caregiver for my three children and my aging parents, I have embraced this role with a full heart. The essence of caregiving extends beyond meeting physical needs; it encompasses emotional support, education, and cultural preservation. My journey in navigating these responsibilities has imprinted valuable life lessons and fueled my ambition for further education and community involvement. Growing up in a traditional Hindu family, I learned about the significance of familial obligations at an early age. Being the younger and only daughter, I carry the weight of expectations from my family, particularly regarding the care of my parents as they age. Despite this pressure, I find joy in nurturing my children and ensuring my parents live their later years with dignity. My days are a balancing act between meeting the demands of my children, helping them with their studies, engaging in their extracurricular activities, and managing household task, while also providing my parents with the physical assistance and emotional companionship they need. This dual responsibility has shaped my character in profound ways. Through patience, resilience, and adaptability, I have learned to thrive in the midst of challenges. Each day presents new opportunities for growth, whether it’s navigating the emotions of my teenage daughter, teaching my middle son about responsibility, or guiding my youngest child through their formative years. These experiences enhance my understanding of different stages of life and the unique needs that come with each. As I care for my aging parents, I also impart to my children the importance of respect and support for elders. Teaching them to value our cultural heritage ensures that our family’s traditions are passed down to future generations. This journey has not only influenced my personal life but has also ignited a passion for education and community service within me. I recognize that nurturing relationships extend beyond the walls of my home; they include the broader community we inhabit. My experiences as a caregiver have motivated me to pursue a career dedicated to positively impacting children’s lives and empowering families. I believe that education is a powerful catalyst that can unlock new possibilities and enable me to make a difference in the lives of those around me. The scholarship I am seeking represents more than just financial support for my education; it is a chance to create a brighter future for my entire family. As my oldest daughter prepares to graduate high school, I am determined to ensure that financial burdens do not hinder her pursuit of higher education. Alleviating these concerns will enable me to better guide my middle son in making informed educational decisions and to nurture my youngest child’s earliest years, laying a strong foundation for their future. By investing in my own education, I aim to become a role model not only as a dedicated mother and devoted daughter but also as an active community member. Equipped with knowledge, I aspire to give back by mentoring other families facing similar challenges, fostering a sense of unity and resilience among those around me. I envision a future where I can use my experiences to uplift and support others in their caregiving journeys. In conclusion, my journey as a caregiver has significantly impacted my life, reinforcing my unwavering commitment to family and community. The scholarship I seek serves as a vital resource—one that will catalyze growth for my children, my parents, and myself. Together, we can create a nurturing environment where our cultural values thrive, and we empower one another as a family and as part of a larger community. The opportunity to further my education is not just a personal aspiration; it is a path through which I can contribute to a brighter future for all. Thankyou Pooja
