I wish to pursue higher education as a way to challenge and better myself, improve my future, and get the opportunity to enter a career path I've been passionate about since I was a child; forensic science. I have found myself gravitating towards human biology since I was young, and forensics is a way for me to pursue my interests in biology as well as observation of human activity. I always seek to become smarter and gain experience across various fields, and I feel there is no better way to do this than going to college. The diversity of students, curriculum, and staff will allow me to explore many things I am interested in. On campus, I will interact with others in a way I never have before, as well as learning from leading experts in my chosen field. This incredible opportunity will give me the knowledge I need to become a forensic scientist, as well as give me experience for when I graduate and enter the workforce. I have always participated in many extracurricular activities, the most prominent being various forms of performance art. I participated in an out-of-school local dance club for 10 years, where I worked with my teacher (a college dance teacher and professional theatrical performer) to have fun and be creative, not competitive. I ended up taking a leadership role and often helped others in the group, which helped boost my confidence and social skills. I also have participated in many theatre programs, both in school and out of school, and I received a nomination for a HALO award for my performance of the Wicked Witch in a parody performance of The Wizard of Oz called "When Bad Things Happen to Good Actors". I have played a leading role in my school's plays and/or musicals every year since 4th grade, and I love the experience of working with others to create art. Finally, I have always been in my schools' musical programs, both vocal and instrumental. I play the bass clarinet and became such a fan of my chosen instrument that I purchased it myself rather than continuing to use a borrowed one from the school. Of course, I hope to continue these various activities in college. I am passionate about many things and try to learn as much as possible about subjects that interest me. As an autistic person, I actually think that I can get more passionate and focused on interests than others. Once I dive into a subject, I tend to try and learn as much as I can about it and become very enthusiastic about both learning and sharing the information I have learned. I've always been interested in helping others in any way I can: being a listening ear for those who need it, helping with academics, and furthering social causes in High School. I love to indulge in my interests, including video games, music, drawing, writing, and various sciences. Usually, this entails me learning about things, teaching others, or creating media like art and stories relating to these interests. They also serve as a gateway for me to meet and bond with people of like interests. I can't wait to have higher education interaction with both students and staff to feed my intellectual hunger, as well as sharing my enthusiasm for learning with others.
