Bio

Going forward in life, my goals are to achieve a career in music. I have loved singing for as long as I can remember, and if I can make a career out of it, that’s exactly what I want to do. Spending the last 4 years in my high school’s top choirs, I have gained an understanding of leadership and what it takes to have a successful choir. I believe that my experience gives me a foot in the door on how to make a positive impact on the world of music. My ultimate goal is to make music more accessible, inclusive, and impactful. My belief is that music has the ability to change someone’s life for the better and I aim to use my prior experiences to inspire positive change in the world of music. Music is my passion, and I am the happiest version of myself when I am blessed with the opportunity to perform.

Spending the last 4 years in my high school’s top choirs, I have gained an understanding of leadership and what it takes to have a successful choir. I believe that my experience gives me a foot in the door on how to make a positive impact on the world of music. I have been a part of many different choirs throughout my high school career and the first thing I would want to change about the world of music is bringing in more inclusivity. Schools and communities need to be encouraged to create new programs that allow more people to join. These programs should also offer private lessons or workshops to teach healthy vocal techniques and how to use teamwork in a choir. My hope is that this approach would offer training to aspiring musicians of all ages, races, religions, and sexualities. Along with inclusivity for musicians, I believe the community needs to advocate for more inclusion of musical pieces. I have experienced firsthand the discomfort of other musicians when it comes to cultural music, and I truly think that this could be changed for the better if there was more exposure to cultural music in the choir and musical world. A major skill I developed this year is leadership. I have practiced leadership skills, not only in my choirs, but also in my school’s Future Business Leaders of America club. Along with 2 other members, I brainstormed and organized a successful fundraiser to take students to countrywide competitions. I believe that with these new skills, I would be able to organize a similar event or fundraiser to help raise awareness and donate money to organizations that have similar beliefs about the music world as I do. The most important thing you need to remember when attempting to change something this drastic is not to give up. You must stay persistent in order to create the change and impact you were seeking out from the beginning. My ultimate goal is to make music more accessible, inclusive, and impactful. This can be done through advocating for more musical opportunities, creating community choirs, or innovating repertoires. My high school choir has offered me the opportunity to develop adaptability, teamwork, and leadership skills. My belief is that music has the ability to change someone’s life for the better and I aim to use my prior experiences to inspire positive change in the world of music.
