Valley Wolfpack Alumni Scholarship
WinnerFootball has been a constant part of my life since second grade, when I first joined the Wolfpack Football organization in Sumner. From the beginning, Wolfpack was more than just a team to play football with, it became a place where I learned discipline, accountability, teamwork, and leadership. From second through eighth grade, the lessons I learned through this program shaped not only the athlete I became, but also the person I am today.
When I first started playing football, I learned the technical basics like passing, tackling, and reading the field. However, the most important lessons went far beyond the physical side of the game. Football taught me how to show up consistently for a team, put group goals ahead of personal success, and take responsibility for my actions. My coaches emphasized simple but meaningful values: work hard, treat others with respect, and show up when it matters most. These expectations stuck with me, especially during difficult seasons when motivation was low and challenges felt overwhelming.
Throughout my time playing, I faced moments of frustration and self doubt. There were games after hard losses, seasons where I struggled to earn playing time, and times when adjusting to a new position felt discouraging. While those moments felt like setbacks at the time, they ultimately helped me grow. Instead of quitting, I chose to listen, work harder, and trust the guidance of my coaches. Football taught me that growth often happens when things are hardest, and resilience comes from continuing to show up even when confidence is low.
Over time, I learned to accept feedback without taking it personally and to use criticism as a tool for improvement. I developed stronger discipline, better time management, and a greater sense of responsibility as I balanced school, practice, and personal commitments. These habits carried over into my everyday life and helped me stay focused, accountable, and committed to my goals.
Giving back to the Wolfpack organization has been one of the most meaningful parts of my journey. In 2022, I returned to Wolfpack as a coach for the 8U team because I wanted to be the same steady role model for younger players that older coaches had been for me. Coaching taught me patience, clear communication, and the importance of being prepared, knowing that young athletes were relying on me. I learned how to lead by encouraging others, correcting mistakes respectfully, and building confidence within a team.
I also volunteered as a coach for second and third grade flag football, where our focus was effort, teamwork, and learning fundamentals rather than just winning. While coaching that team to a championship was rewarding, what mattered most was seeing the players grow in confidence, work harder, and develop a love for the game.
Through both playing and coaching, Wolfpack Football has shown me the importance of leadership, service, and community. I believe I am a strong fit for this scholarship because the values of the organization align with how I strive to live every day. Wolfpack helped shape who I am, and this scholarship would allow me to continue pursuing my goals while being able to remember the program that played such an important role in my growth.
