Bio

I am a 31 year old artist that is finishing out my senior year at UArts in Pennsylvania. Being the first in my family to pursue a college education serves as a powerful motivation. Attending art school has been a long-standing dream of mine, so I am deeply committed to my academic success and passionate about forging a career as an artist. One of my primary goals is to immerse myself in a community of like-minded artists who will challenge and inspire me. The prospect of exchanging ideas and collaborating on projects fills me with hope and excitement for the future. I find inspiration in rebellious and thought-provoking art by women, who are still fighting for representation in the art world. Pioneers like Judy Chicago, or the Gorilla Girls, who infused feminism with humor and wit, are among the many who I try to pull inspiration. As a woman in a male-dominated industry, I aim to be an example of achievement and continue the march for progress. Through my work, I seek to reveal the truth and humor in being alive by delving into uncomfortable realities and creating impactful art that inspires others.

My inspiration is a dynamic blend of life experiences and the world around me, exploring the interplay of joy and tragedy that defines the human experience. Growing up in Florida, my art reflects bizarre nostalgia, infusing everyday life with humor and whimsy. My fascination lies with outsider art, folk art, and the offbeat. I am drawn to early American tattoo sheet imagery, storytelling, and the anonymous traveler's train-hopping graffiti. My love for portrait painting comes from my obsession with the human form and drawing from life. I feel deeply connected to every figure I paint. In addition to plein air painters I love, like Cezanne or Monet, and the wonderful figure paintings of Egon Schiele, I find most of my inspiration comes from rebellious and thought-provoking women artists. Pioneers like Judy Chicago, or the Gorilla Girls, infused feminism with humor and wit. As a woman in a male-dominated industry, I aim to be an example of achievement and continue the march for progress. Through my work, I seek to reveal the truth and humor in being alive by delving into uncomfortable realities and creating impactful art that inspires others.
