Parenthood, the state of being a parent. One enters parenthood simply by becoming a parent. I have the honor of being a parent to two amazing children, Jaxon and Amiyah. The road has been non other that easy, however, every waking moment of my life I strive to be the best parent God intends for me to be. After graduating college, I was offered a position as a 2nd grade teacher. Fresh out of college, the ideal of adulthood was nonetheless exciting.
My first year teaching I was blessed with my first child. There goes any thought of graduate school. As time goes on, I enroll in school, get accepted. only to not continue. Why you may ask? Being a full time working parent. Juggling the classroom and school expectations was draining... mentally and physically. As time flies by I welcome my 2nd child. How is going back to school going to affect my family? By this point graduate school is completely out of mind.
Now here we are! Seven years later and I am finally pursuing furthering my education. Why now? It is my time. I feel like everything has a purpose as well as everything happens in due time. Although I have had minor setbacks, I believe it was necessary for growth as an educator and as a parent. Being able to be established in my career and able the take of being a mom has taught me how to prioritize, focus, and overcome challenges.
Focusing on work and my family has given me the time to think about our future. I have been able to create a road map to success. The day to day demands I endure are now at a place where I can focus on a better education to support my family. My higher education will be used for my family. I want to be able to fulfill every dream for my family. A degree can open several doors for advancement. I want my children to see and understand that I'm not only investing in my own education, but they can use the same tools to tackle theirs in the future.
