Some of my goals in life tend to focus around being stable. I want to be the first person in my family to graduate college and have a stable life that is fun but also meaningful so I can help those around me too. I am very active and hardworking as I workout to be the best person I can as well as work while attending school so I have more work experience and to see what life is like out in the real world.

My mother has impacted my life tremendously even with me not exactly seeing her all the time. From when I was young my mom didn't really work or have a job that paid enough to help with the bills and everything for the family and my dad was the one who was making all the real money. This is only due to the fact that my mom had to take care of me and my two younger sisters while trying to impress my dad as he was always angry and would get very aggressive towards every little thing he saw wrong. She didn't have the power to go out and get a job because he would get mad that she was not giving us enough time and attention but at the same time he would get pissed that she wasn't bringing in any money to the house. After awhile my mom decided to leave him and work on herself because he was not being nice for her and was physically and mentally draining on the family. She left and started her own business by running errands for people as well as selling coupon books to get a steady pay that she could rely on. As this went on my dad moved farther away and wanted to take me with him and she didn't want to but my dad had filled my head with lies and I agreed so I told her I don't want to live with her for the "awful" things she did. But as I was gone with my dad, he got even more aggressive and could barely keep a job or have a job that payed the rent as we moved probably 7 times within 3-4 years of my high school life. In contrary though my mom was doing really good for herself; she got her realtor's license within Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina while making a killing doing it. She was the top sales agent of the year for her company two years in a row and was making enough money to keep her in a stable and healthy living situation for my sisters and her as she deserved everything that was coming to her. She had to deal with my father for years because she thought it was the right thing to do for me and my sisters but she decided to put herself first and make a life the was worth living. And now she has also was the one to help me get into my first year of college as she kept telling me I needed to go to grow as a person and get a job after college so I can be financially stable unlike my dad who barely works, likes to drink, and everyone in a while do a low paying job that gives him enough money to blow it on something irrelevant. In a wrap she basically taught me how to treat a woman as I am in a healthy relationship right now where both partners have to be happy and she also taught me the importance of budgeting, getting ready for the future, and always trying to be the best person you can be to those around you and to yourself as that is what she had to overcome to become the person that I aspire to be. As she is a realtor I am trying to become a business major and maybe follow in her footsteps with maybe starting my own brokerage or something out of college. I wouldn't be me without my mothers impact on life.
McCutcheon | Nikitin First-Generation Scholarship
Education is one of my top priorities in my life close to a healthy body and mind. I am a first generation college student as both of my parents tried to go to college but dropped out due to it not being their number one priority. And now my dad is a low level home remodeler who barely gets his payments on time and my mom works 24/7 just so she can support me sisters and to keep a roof over their heads. Right now I am very observant on what I need to do to graduate college and be successful in my field of study which is Business.
And in todays world, education is almost a requirement to be successful as many people who do not go to college are stuck in low income jobs that take little to no skill or thought and they are just working day in and day out on a job that really isn't helping them or anyone else. I want to get a job that is really important that changes the life of other and making a life that was meaningful.
Also I know I've mostly taken about college and after it but even high school and middle school have shown me the difference between adulthood and childhood and how one difference in someones path can change their whole life. You could have grown up in a poorly funded school system where education was not at a high priority and I see those exact people who I went to school with back then doing drugs and having jobs at places like McDonalds or having to steal just to make it by and that is something that could have been prevented if someone had just helped them with their priorities.
The world today is so focused around education as well as almost 12 years of your life you are in school learning and being taught and I would say I am so much better and smarter of a person because of it and I do not know how to repay everyone who has helped me along the way but all I know is education is so big but is talked about so small amount in priority as today we are more focused about who is wearing what clothing brand and not what someone has a masters or bachelors degree in and how are they contributing to the world that they were brought into and in counter part responsible for, for the future generations to come.
Bold Financial Literacy Scholarship
I think one personal finance lesson that is important is the idea around savings. now this can range from retirement money, savings accounts, stocks, index funds, or IRA's. I currently have a Roth IRA that I invest money into to let build up over time so when I do retire I have enough money to last me into the later years of life. I also currently am learning and teaching myself about index funds, stocks, and savings so I can take my sedentary money and grow it without doing much to it or just saving money for a rainy day because everyone needs to be prepared for when life throws a curveball.
