During my time as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker I have served individuals from diverse backgrounds who are seeking support with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, and self-esteem concerns. I have worked for many years in community based mental health agencies, where those who are low income and struggling financially can have equitable access to mental health supports. Everyone deserves the opportunity to receive mental health support and guidance regardless of their circumstances or background. In addition to working in community based mental health, my role as a therapist with BetterHelp has helped me connect and provide support to those seeking mental health care at a much more affordable rate. BetterHelp offers a platform that is not only affordable,but is flexible and eliminates barriers such as transportation and long waitlists. Many clients that I have connected with via BetterHelp feel comfortable being in their own space and enjoy having a direct line to their therapist. It can be very challenging for many people, specifically those struggling with mental health challenges, to take the first step towards mental health wellness, but BetterHelp makes it simple while offering support and compassion. In order to achieve my dreams of becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who provides individual therapy, I needed to take out student loans. I am happy I did, as my education has allowed me the opportunity to do what I love. However, after 20 years I am still paying off these loans with about $14,000 left to go. I look forward to having financial freedom from those loans so I can focus on building my practice and focus more fully on providing quality care to my clients rather than financial stress. I am interested in pursuing additional trainings that would expand my knowledge on working with clients with more specific and unique needs. The relief of my student loans would allow me t pay for ongoing education that would allow me to integrate evidence based interventions and stay current with best practices.
