one day me and my father were driving and a car in front of us was smoking and caught fire when we saw that happen my dad immediately hopped out of the car and ran to this car on front of us to help. It was a pregnant lady and her toddler child. If I recall I was 5 or 6 at the time and when I saw my dad help them get out of that car and the firemen showed up to put out the fire and do their reports and such I determined my career right then and there. Im now a high school senior studying to go to emt school and fire school after graduating. I’ve always felt like it’s important to be apart of something bigger than yourself and fighting for a good cause. I chose this career because I want to save lives and make a difference in this world even if my life is at risk. Overall I can only do my best in this world to help others because if I was in a situation where I needed help I hope someone would do the same for me. I have an extreme drive because I can imagine situations similiar to the one I’ve experienced but without someone to step up and help the person in need and it makes me feel more driven to help the community. I want to help as many people as I can because I don’t want people’s loved ones to be harmed, I want to care for those who have no one to watch over them because in a way I understand what it’s like to have no one watching. I not only want to help protect the property of the community but I want to help the sick, the lonely and the the injured. Lately after seeing all these wildfires on the news it has driven me to begin studying I’ve already started studying emergency care with the 14th edition textbook I opt to do emt school then either get training from applying at a fire department or going to fire academy right after emt school. To be honest being a senior in high school I’m unsure of my future in life but all I can do is try my hardest to achieve my goals for now and after I achieve those keep building step by step I believe what firefighters and first responders do is very important within the community and I respect them so much and one day I will be joining this line of service.

Public service is very important within each and every community in America. Although Public service and safety workers don’t receive enough credit they are great individuals. I wanted to tell my story of how I discovered this was the career path I wanted to follow. When I was young I was in a car with my dad and the car in front of us was smoking and caught on fire. My dad rushed to this car and it was a woman and her child, he helped them get out of the car and made sure they were ok and next the fire department arrived and I saw them putting the fire out and asking the woman and my dad questions and then it hit me. I realized that things like that is what firefighters do on the daily they save lives and seeing these acts of kindness motivated me to follow this path. At that time I was about 8 years old and now I’m a senior in high school working on trying to figure out how I can become a firefighter in the near future. I have studied the career of firefighting through and through and am almost at the point where it’s time to make a move. At times things will be hard in this career with the long shifts and nights but after all I want to help others so all the struggles I may endure will be worth it every time. That’s the story of what got me interested in this line of work. A couple reasons I want to pursue this career is because I can’t sit at a desk all day doing paperwork, I have a need for things to be different every time I go to a shift, to wake up not knowing what to expect. Meeting new people everyday and making friends at the firehouse sound amazing and forming close bonds because we’ve all been through the same struggles. I also believe this career is very fitting for my lifestyle I like to be active and I will need some downtime too because I enjoy having pets and possibly working another job on the days I have off. Some more main reasons is because the schedule seems great, good benefits, good retirement plans, and decent pay. Overall I have a strong belief in the fact that I was born to do public service because I love to help others and create strong bonds and lastly the most important thing is making a positive impact on the community.
