Throughout my academic journey, I have been dedicated to service, advocacy, and leadership, striving to uplift those around me. As a member of My Brother’s Keeper (MBK), I actively participate in mentorship initiatives that empower young men of color, fostering a sense of community and support. Through MBK, I have engaged in discussions about leadership, perseverance, and the importance of giving back, while also helping to plan events that strengthen our brotherhood. My commitment to service extends to Student Government and Grade Advisory, where I advocate for student needs, help organize school events, and provide a voice for my peers. I take pride in being a representative for my class and ensuring that student concerns are heard and addressed.
Beyond leadership roles, I am also a dedicated member of the National Honor Society, where I have participated in various service projects that benefit my school and local community. Whether assisting with food drives, organizing community events, or supporting academic initiatives, I find fulfillment in knowing that my efforts make a difference. Additionally, through my involvement in the Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP), I have had the opportunity to engage in academic enrichment while also participating in outreach programs that encourage younger students to explore STEM fields.
My passion for helping others has led me to pursue a career in social work with a focus on counseling, community outreach, LGBTQIA+ advocacy, and poverty intervention. At Adelphi University, I will receive the hands-on training and education necessary to become a licensed counseling social worker. Through my studies, I will gain the skills needed to provide mental health support, create outreach programs, and advocate for underrepresented communities. I am particularly passionate about ensuring that marginalized groups, including LGBTQIA+ youth and individuals from low-income backgrounds, have access to the resources and support they need to thrive.
My educational path is not just about personal success. It is about equipping myself with the tools to give back, uplift, and create lasting change in my community. I want to use my platform to provide counseling services, develop mentorship programs, and create safe spaces where individuals feel heard and valued. By combining my lived experiences with professional knowledge, I aim to develop initiatives that offer emotional and financial resources to those in need, ensuring that no one feels unheard or unsupported. My commitment to service will not end with my degree. It will be the foundation for my lifelong mission to uplift and empower others.
