Learner Math Lover Scholarship
I love math for one simple reason; it is, at its core, simple. In other subjects, there is room for disagreement. With reading, two people can interpret a paragraph in completely different ways. In history, one may think the cause for a revolution was famine, while another argues that it was disease. And yet, in both of these examples, no one is technically "wrong". As long as they can support their statements, they are labeled as being correct. That has always bothered me. Should there not always be a right and a wrong, a correct and incorrect answer? Such is why I love math more than anything else. You rarely see such situations. Most of the time, things are cut and dry; if we say that 2x equals 10, then x must equal 5. Simplicity like this has always made me feel secure and happy. On math tests, I am never forced to worry if my supposition about something is wrong or if my statement is not backed up by any evidence. All I have to do is remember the steps needed, and will always get the correct answer. In short, the reason I love math so much is that, unlike other subjects, answers are almost always clear and simple.
Anime Enthusiast Scholarship
Of all of the animes I have ever watched, my favorite has always been School-Live. I found out about it when I was barely even 12, and have watched it countless times since. One of the reasons why I find it so captivating is because of its plot. The main character, a young girl named Yuki Takeya, is living in a school during a zombie apocalypse along with 4 other girls. Her mind has broken to the point where she no longer sees that anything is wrong; To her, all of the zombies look like regular people. This plot is simplistic in nature. Yet, in practice, it is enthralling and captivating. Another reason is how the characters present themselves. I find it so interesting that each character has decided to feed into Yuki's delusions so she is kept safe. Lastly, I find the world building to be absolutely fantastic. The anime establishes that the girls are not the only ones who have survived. It also presents clear rules about how the zombies work, what kills them, etc. These things are absolutely amazing to me; I love a thoughtfully crafted world. So, in short, there are many things that captivate me when it comes to School-Live. The plot, character actions, and world building will never fail to catch my attention. So, now you know why I find School-Live to be so greatly captivating.
