My life passion is creating wonderful masterpieces inspired by 19th-century French oil painting to revive classical techniques and speak to the hearts of those around me. When I see a master painting, I get a feeling of wonder and awe, and my goal is to instill that same feeling with my original artwork. Through my studies at UW-Madison, I hope to learn more about the artwork I hold dear to my heart, meet other artists, and give back to my local art community by hosting art shows and volunteering. I am a motivated student with a 4.0 GPA determined to enrich the modern art world with classical techniques, and my dream is to become an instructor, historian, or museum curator with a focus on ancient artwork. The motivation behind every step I take stems from my parents, who moved across states and made many sacrifices to give me the best foundation they could so I could achieve my dreams. I hope to give back to them someday, somehow, to thank them for their selflessness and undying love.

I find the greatest amount of positive impact comes through teaching and giving back to communities, which are the two things I plan to do during my school and professional career. As a classical oil painter, I focus on creating master copies and original artwork inspired by 19th-century French portraiture using classical techniques. I plan to become well-versed in art history and classical painting so I can reintroduce these themes into the modern art world and teach others about the wonders of the old masters. I also plan to volunteer in the art community at galleries, clubs, and within organizations to help young artists showcase their art and provide free instruction and materials. My passion behind this comes from my roots as a struggling teen trying to figure out the best way to go about expanding my interest in art. I remember feeling lost and confused without the proper direction before finding my mentors.
These art mentors I found at local clubs impacted my life in wonderful ways and made me the artist I am today. It is my dream to become one of those people to other young artists someday and be the person in their life who helps them grow, learn, and expand their artistic passion. I'd love to teach classical portraiture and provide a space for young teens and adults with an interest in older methods of painting, because that is something I am seeking myself currently as a young artist.
I believe that all of these actions with make a positive impact because I know the immense benefit of fostering artistic talent, no matter if it's art, music, or theater, and allowing the community to flourish. The world needs more creativity, and if I can spend my time giving my resources to those who are in the same spot I used to be in, I know that effort will spread around to other communities and hopefully around the world.

My favorite and most personal piece I've ever created is my first original artwork titled "Beneath the Forest's Light", a painting I created during a heartbreak and great shift in my life as I moved away from my hometown for school. I turn to painting as a coping method because it allows me to focus my mind and disappear from the outside world. I poured my feelings of despair, self-renewal and growth into this painting as I processed leaving a relationship that broke my heart as it eventually grew abusive. There's a strange push and pull when leaving an abuser - you're attached but at the same time you know you need to leave.
This painting is based off a reference photo of my best friend, someone who I've known throughout all of my relationships and my closest confidant. I wanted to communicate the feeling of stillness and self-reflection, a moment in time. I also learned while entering the world of being a young adult woman that femineity is sacred and beautiful but often taken advantage of. There's beauty in everyone that shines from within, and it feels terrible when you lose your sense of self.
This painting also marked my first original after dedicating my time to creating classical master copies, and I am very proud of my technical skills and execution. It has a deep meaning to me that I know resonates with other females, feminine people, or anyone who has ever felt still and heavy-hearted.
