My mother had me at a very young age and worked 2 full time jobs and went to school at night to provide for me and keep a roof over my head and food on the table for us, which led me to have to spend a lot of time with my papa (my mom's dad). We were inseparable. He was the father figure in my life since my dad decided to leave my mom when she was pregnant with me . Me and my papa were attached at the hip even when my mom wasn't working, I always wanted to be with him, He taught me so much in life. The biggest lesson he ever taught me was LOVE. He loved everyone, He never saw the bad in anyone. He would give the shirt off his back. When he passed away in April I felt like my world came crumbling down. He was so supportive with everything that I wanted to do , He was my coach , my best friend, my everything. I will stop at nothing to make my dream a realality to become a nurse because he was my biggest fan on the journey to college.

My mother is a single mother who had me at the age of 18, I watched my mother for the last 18 years work endless shifts to provide a roof over my head and food on the table. I have watched my mother give me her last dime to her name all so I could go out to have a good time with my friends. I started working at the age of 16 as soon as I could. I wanted nothing more than to be able to help my mother contribute to anything that was needed, She asked me to stop working and focus on my education and sports. She looked at me one day and said "Olivia, you go and be a kid , just because I was never able to enjoy life the way I should have, I refuse to allow you to not". Right there I looked at her and said Mom you have given up so much just to make sure I have everything I need and more. My mother is the strongest person I know. She has pushed me and motivated me to drive to make my dream a realty by going to school to be a nurse.

Dog Owner Scholarship

I currently own a 5 month old puppy named Bella. I begged my mother for years to allow me to get a dog. She finally gave in and allowed me to do so. My mother is a hardworking single mother who had me at a very young age. She finally decided to allow me to get a puppy to show me responsibility, show me that I have someone else in my life now that I am responsible for. I am going to be there all the way.

My favorite Disney character is Belle. She is soft spoken and sees the beast for who he really is and not what he looks like. She teaches him how to be passionate and kind. She never stirs away from the challenge and stops at nothing to show him the true meaning of love. The world needs more Belle's and then the world might just be a happier place.
