Bio

I want to pursue a degree in education I would like to become a teacher and a coach. I have played sports for so long that I couldn't imagine a life without them. I love to give back to my community and being a coach does this for me because I want to return all the kindness that was given to me when I first started my sports journey.

Being raised by a single mother who only wanted what was best for me has always put the idea of going to college in my mind. Growing up with a distant father, I always relied on my mom; she was the only one who provided for me and wanted what was in my best interest. When I was young, I saw how hard she worked and how kind she was, and I wanted to be just like her. I am going to be a first-generation college student; saying it out loud makes it real. Anytime I'm struggling with anything mentally and not prepared for something, my mom is the person I turn to. She always has the right answers and wants what is best for me. I know my going to college will make her proud. One other important person in my life was my grandma who was always my biggest supporter; When she passed away, it was hard for my family and me to try and find that balance again. She kept all of us together. That day on September 11, 2020, my whole world changed in a heartbeat. We went from talking every night to me just staring at the wall. I begged and pleaded to God asking why, why me? Why did you have to take the one person that I could always count on, who defended me through everything? But I couldn't make that choice. She was tired, she was in pain, and I wanted what was best for her and my family. But at that moment it was hard. It changed me as a person, it forced me to grow up and make my family proud. Sometimes I feel alone like I don't have anyone but then I get this certain wave of energy. It motivates me, the feeling of someone watching over me and giving me the guidance I prayed for. I miss her so much every day, and whoever said it gets easier, well they are lying. We're going on 3 years without her, and on every birthday, and every holiday, we still think about her. She made such an impact on me and gave me so many reasons to keep going. I thank God for every day he gave me with her, and I cherish those moments to this day. When my grandmother passed away it changed my perspective on the world, and that’s when I knew I had to achieve all my goals. Without my mother and grandmother, I wouldn't be who I am today. My whole life has been blessed with amazing people who want nothing but the best for me. Playing volleyball is more than a sport for me, it's where I've made the best friendships and found something I'm passionate about. I’ve always had the best coaches and mentors who were so kind to me along this journey. I want to return the favor to others as they did for me. I wouldn't be where I am today without all of those who have crossed my path. Telling my story has always been something I've had a hard time talking about because no one truly understands it. I am beyond grateful to everyone who has ever stepped into my life and has given me the opportunity to be my best self. I want to go to college not only for me but for my mom. She has always been the one person I look up to and the only person who has ever supported me, this would all be for her.
