Bio

I am currently a senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in music therapy. I love my degree and can not wait to get into the field and begin helping people. If I had one big dream for the future, it would be to work in a children's hospital going room to room offering music therapy to children in need.

My very first memory is of my mom and dad fighting. I had woken in th middle of the night and walked out to them fighting in the living room. All I remember of them fighting was the raised voices and the fact that I just wanted more milk in my sippy cup. Even asking for milk caused them to argue. They eventually decided that it would be best if they separated. I stayed in the custody of my mom while my dad ran off. This left us living on just her income for a long time. To this day, my mother can not eat ramen noodles without getting sick; this is because it was what we lived off of for years while it was just my mom. Eventually, my mother met my stepdad, and they were together for years. My mother decided she had had enough of my stepdad drinking a year and a half ago, and we left. My sibling stayed with my stepdad after he did get sober. My mom decided that even after he got sober, she wouldn't be going back because it was a very unhealthy relationship. The past year and a half have been some of the most brutal months for my mom. Watching my mom go through all these struggles yet still do absolutely everything she can for my sibling and me has just shown me how strong she is. My mother is not only my mom; she is my best friend, biggest motivator, and number one fan. She supports me through everything I do. If anything is wrong, I know she is just a phone call away. My mother is the most intelligent, caring, and reasonable person I know. I think about my emotions a lot of the time. Whenever anything happens in my life or I'm stressed to my max. I call my mom. She always takes the time to sit with me and talk through any problems I might have or be going through. I can tell her everything, and she will listen and give me the best advice I can receive for almost any situation that I am in. My mother is a full-time nurse, caring for my sibling and me. Whatever we need, my mom does her absolute best that we have it. My mother has taught me how to be a strong independent woman that doesn't need a partner to take care of me. But while teaching me to be independent, she has taught me to love completely, not be afraid of sharing my life with another person, and always maintain my independence. She has taught me continually to work hard and that if I keep pushing through the rough or rugged times, there will be a bright and better ending.
