Bio

Hello! My name is Olivia Barnes. I'm 17 years old and attending R-S Central High School as a junior. I have quite a few hobbies and interests, but most of them aren't sporty. I love animals and nature. I hike a lot with my dog Pepper. When I'm not out walking the trails, I'm always tucked away into a book. I read every day, and I never get tired of it. I love baking and cooking, and I've recently started to perfect my recipes. I've not always been a perfect artist, but over the years, I've perfected my methods of drawing and painting. An interest of mine is the military, and whether or not I should join. If I do, I'd join the National Guard. It's always been an interest of mine since a few people in my family have served. My dream job is to become a wildlife veterinarian or a wildlife biologist. I'd love to work on wild animals as well as domesticated animals. I know it's a lot of schooling, time, and money but I believe it's worth it. My passion for animals makes this career stand out to me. I'd love to travel the world, helping animals wherever I go. Animals are so precious and they deserve to be protected and helped. I believe I would be a good candidate because I'm motivated, mature, and disciplined. I would love to have the opportunity to achieve my dream job and goals. I know my grandfather, as well as the rest of my family, would be proud of me if I achieved these things. If you find it in your hearts, please consider me for your scholarship, so I can protect and help these wonderful creatures and better myself in the process. Thank you!

I've always been very passionate about animals. Like Jackie, I believe animals deserve love and respect. I believe, as a people, we don't give animals the love and care that they need. With dog meat trades, all the way down to abuse. I think it's wrong that animals sit inside of a pound, waiting for death if no one thinks that they're cute, or too old. I want to volunteer at an animal shelter this summer. I'd work and give all those animals the love that they don't get in their day-to-day lives. I try to help every animal I come across because I can't even imagine what they've been through in their lifetime. Animals go through too much in the wild and in a domesticated setting just to be abused, killed, and set to the side. I've volunteered to help animals in need, including domesticated and wild. My grandfather was passionate about wildlife and nature. He passed away before Christmas of this year; he wouldn't even kill a fly or spider. We talked about birds all of the time. I know he would be proud of me if I got into this line of work. I take photographs of animals, to share their beauty with anyone who cares to see them. We currently have a Carolina Wren who built her nest in a plant container; I'm very excited about her eggs hatching. I collect a lot of animal material(s) such as bones, fur, claws, etc. I'm currently a high school junior, I aspire to become a wildlife veterinarian. I'd work with wild and domesticated animals to bring them love and care like Jackie wanted to. I want to travel the world and help animals in need of this love and protection that Jackie knew animals needed. I'd love to share Jackie's story with others and continue my line of work in Jackie's honor. I believe what happened was terrible, and I'd like to continue with Jackie in my heart and mind. I will pray for Jackie and what happened to her. I will pray for her family that God protects them and watches over them in their time of grief and sorrow. May God watch over everyone attending schools and everyone who has lost a child or loved one due to a school shooting. May God send His wrath down upon anyone who has shot up a school or done any crime. For there is nothing greater than the wrath and forgiveness of God. Amen!
