WinnerI grew up in a Christian household. I live in the bible belt, so it isn't uncommon. I went to church on Sundays, prayed the prayer, had a bible, etc. I thought that was all there was. One day, I switched churches and began my life at The River. I was in middle school. I didn't have many friends because I got removed from public school due to falling in with the wrong crowd. I continued living life as a lukewarm Christian, until one day I was invited to a pool party.
The River had a youth group that I didn't know about. It didn't have a name and was very small, but it was a church group of people my age. I accepted and went to the pool party. I had a blast! I finally had friends again. I was invited to join them on Wednesdays and I accepted.
After a few months of going, I finally felt like I belonged. I felt connected with these people and started feeling God knock on my door. One day, I was in church around the age of 14. I heard a sermon that stuck with me in a way I can't explain. It felt like God had directed that sermon right at me. I remember this overwhelming feeling of conviction I had never had before. I knew I needed to give my life to God immediately. After church I approached my youth pastor with tears streaming down my face, telling him I wanted to give my life to Jesus. He prayed with me and I started my real walk with God.
Once the holy spirit entered me I felt joy. Not happiness, joy. I started trying my best to change my lifestyle and live for him. God has led me to many amazing parts of my life and many amazing people. He helped me have the boldness to talk to people about Jesus everywhere I go. He led me to my future career and taught me where my ministry lies. I know my future lies with him.
I plan to own a bakery. God gave me the gift of baking, I want to use it for my ministry through food. In college, I would continue to be bold and talk to others about Jesus. I'll keep my faith strong with a church group, and invite others to do the same. I'll cook while in school and host small bible study nights offering food and drinks if you join. I'll reach out to others my age and have a college ministry among my peers. invite them to things just like I was invited in middle school. plant the seeds. God calls us to be family, followers, and missionaries. Thank you for your time.
