Innovators of Color in STEM Scholarship
Ever since the early days, one could potentially come up with limitless innovations through STEM, these being science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The process of solving challenging problems, designing new ideas, and so on interests me because it makes me feel close enough to understand how things are working in this world, and this passion does not fade away. This naturally led to the decision to choose STEM as the path to follow as a degree, with the consideration of giving back to society with an effort in the said field. The use of technology is, in my opinion, one of the most persuasive calls for change, as it has the ability to positively influence people’s lives. In my educational process, the choice has been made in favor of cybersecurity, which I consider to be closely connected with people. The field is constantly emerging and heavily relied on within today’s society, which provides a range of opportunities and difficulties at the same time. Finally, my nanodegree in software engineering at Holberton School intersection with the development of projects like an e-market store and a website that is a mixture of code and humor play a big role in my determination of this path. These experiences clarified how technology is capable of solving various issues in society, reaching accessibility, and relevance to people’s daily lives. Growing up and being a person of color, I am fully aware of the fact that we are not exactly abundant in STEM occupations. This lack of diversity often makes it impossible to have minorities’ views participate in the dialogues and advancements of society. This is why I will be working diligently to become part of the generation that closes this chasm. Thus, by proposing to obtain a STEM degree, I envision myself not only eradicating barriers in front of myself but also serving as an example for generations to come. As a student in STEM, my desire is to further advance for the position by speaking out concerning diversity. This, I believe, will help me make an impact on society in the following ways:. Based on my experience, I am able to admit that I have been very fortunate to have had tutors in my way. They gave me advice, moral support, and advice that I could never have come up with on my own during the best and worst of times. In this regard, I dream of giving back this inspiration to aspiring talents of color by providing guidance in STEM careers. Through the sharing of stories and encouragement, aim to encourage and enable them to be the best they wish to be. In the work environment, I would ensure the organization and the community act as platforms for diversity and inclusion. This includes policies to offer scholarships and internships to underrepresented students and stalk employment in STEM fields. Further, I plan to work with groups that advocate for minority representation in technology, including by providing my voice and working for the said cause. As far as I am concerned, obtaining a STEM degree means not only enhancing my personal achievements but also making a lasting impact. I aim to shine in my chosen career and use my achievements for the better, making STEM more diverse, inclusive, and embracing for everyone. I also want to be an inspiration, not only for myself but for those who are also striving to fight for change in the STEM field and for future generations, in order to make the inequalities fade and have equal chances for all.
