Bio

I have a lot goals I am trying to accomplish for me and for the people around me. Growing up I didn’t have much, I had to learn and adapt fast being on my own and taking care of myself. I was adopted from Africa into the United States when I was 7 years old. And it wasn’t long before I was on the streets again because of how badly I was treated. I hoped around from shelter to shelter and now I am here first year into college. Because no matter the situation I faced, I still had a dream and a goal I wanted to accomplish. And that was make my mom back in Africa proud if I ever see her again. I am passionate about my education and helping others in the future that might have faced the same situation I did. And so I think I would be a great candidate for this not just because I need it but also the dedication and hard work that I put maybe getting payed off in some ways. Thankyou!

Education has the power to change lives by helping people grow academically and personally. It’s not just about learning facts—it’s about building critical thinking, creativity, and emotional skills that prepare students to succeed in life. I believe education should inspire students to love learning and become confident, capable individuals. My own experiences have shaped this belief. I was adopted from Ethiopia at the age of seven and had to adjust to a new language and culture. These challenges taught me how important it is to feel supported and included. As a teacher, I want to create a classroom where all students, no matter their background, feel valued and understood. My goal is to make learning a safe and welcoming experience for everyone. During my own education, I found that group activities and personalized lessons were some of the best ways to learn. Working with classmates helped me understand ideas better, and having teachers adapt lessons to meet different needs made me feel included. These strategies showed me how much teaching methods matter. In college, I am pursuing a degree that will prepare me to apply these strategies in my own classroom. I plan to use group work and hands-on activities to help students connect with each other and the material. I will also use resources like visuals and multilingual tools to make learning accessible to all students, especially those learning English or who have unique needs. By including students' cultures and backgrounds in lessons, I hope to make learning more meaningful and engaging. My biggest goal as a teacher is to help students believe in themselves. I want them to feel confident that they can overcome challenges and achieve their dreams. I will work to give them the skills they need, like problem-solving and critical thinking, while also teaching them to be empathetic and resilient. To do this, I will celebrate their progress, encourage them when things get tough, and help them set and reach their personal goals. I am also committed to growing as a teacher. My college education is helping me learn how to meet the needs of diverse students, and I will keep improving by attending workshops, learning from other teachers, and listening to my students. I will reflect on what works and adapt to make sure every student can succeed. Teaching is a responsibility I take seriously. I want to inspire my students to dream big and work hard while making sure they feel supported and valued. With my degree and the strategies I’m learning, I am confident I can create a classroom where every student can thrive.
