Hello! My name is Obeaney and I am a first-generation Haitian-American undergraduate nursing student at the University of Massachusetts Boston. My future nursing goals are to ultimately become a Certified Nurse-Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, providing compassionate care and expertise in women's health throughout all stages of pregnancy and life. I believe what sets me apart is my engagement in health advocacy work both within and outside of the hospital. Through my fellowship with several grassroots organizations, I have demonstrated a commitment to promoting health equity. Many have highlighted my compassion and dedication to promoting equity across many communities in need within the state of Massachusetts. I am eager to bring this knowledge and perspective into my nursing career, translating my public health advocacy work into meaningful contributions and using that same voice on behalf of my patients within the hospital setting. In my free time, I enjoy studying French, Spanish, and American Sign Language. I solidified my French fluency last summer during a month-long intensive course at the Catholic Institute of Paris. I also enjoy playing volleyball, an interest that peaked in high school during which I won Division Player of the Year and was captain of our team which came 2nd in the state championship.
