My name is Nyree Washington, and I am a senior at Mount Ntre Dame High School. I am a member of the Track and field team and have been for 3 years. I run sprints and relays. I also do a ton of community service work with St. Vincent dePaul and FreeStore Foodbank. I have been volunteering for all 4 years of high school. Just last semester I acquired a little more than 24 hours of volunteer work from tutoring 6th graders at John Paul II catholic elementary school. I am involved in a service club that supports the non-profit organization, St. Vincent de Paul. A group of us takes the initiative to find time to volunteer with them frequently. To get our school community involved, we find dates that work for both of us and spread the word around the school. I am also a part of the track and field team, where I am looked to as a captain. I lead the team in stretches, boost morale, and give support to all areas of our team. I plan to attend University of Cincinnati Blue Ash to major in Biological Sciences. With this I hope to transfer to a school that will help me get my bachelor’s degree in forensic science. I would love to pursue a career in DNA analysis. I would have to get a good understanding of biology, chemistry, and criminology. I am passionate about these topics and have been since 5th grade. Not only do I plan to get a degree while in college, I hope to also join clubs and branch out to create a diverse community for myself. I hope to pledge for a sorority, join a major specific club, and be a part of an honor society. I love having a sisterhood behind me. It is so familiar because I come from an all-girls school. Joining the major specific and honor society programs will keep me focused on succeeding in my classes. I want to ensure that I have accountability and discipline for my work. I hope to become a more educated, well-rounded person while in college.
