I was passionate about solving problems and helping others at a very young age. I learned about the STEM field in 4th Grade when I attended the Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (a.k.a. SEEK). SEEK is a summer camp through the National Society of Black Engineers that inspired me to pursue a career in the STEM field, specifically in engineering. Since that camp, my career goals have focused on achieving success in the engineering field. I am interested in pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in chemical or biomedical engineering so that I will be able to have a positive impact on society and help people solve their problems using science and technology. After earning my degree, I plan to continue my education by obtaining a master’s degree. Receiving additional education will allow me to become an expert in my field and build a solid foundation of knowledge and experience that will enable me to excel in my work as an engineer. My ultimate goal in this career field is to become a CEO of an engineering company where I can use my education and experience to provide high-quality services and lead my team to success. Once I achieve my career goals, I would also like to develop a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to students pursuing STEM education who lack financial resources and support in their educational journey. With this nonprofit, I would like to develop a scholarship for young African American female engineers in my community to help them pursue their goals and achieve economic independence for themselves and their families. Although my journey to success is far from over, I know that with God’s guidance, strength, and the support of my family and friends, I will accomplish all that He has planned for me. I will achieve my goals to the best of my ability and be a positive role model for other young women who want to make a difference in the world through their careers. I know the career field I chose may be challenging up ahead, but I will try my best to overcome any obstacles that may come my way. One of my favorite scriptures, Philippians 3:14 KJV, says, “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” This proclamation gives me the motivation I need to succeed in all that I do. I look forward to the challenges and experiences that await me as I step closer to achieving my goals and fulfilling my purpose in life. In final consideration, I am committed to this profession, and I will do everything I can to succeed and make a positive impact on the world around me.

Serving others is a crucial aspect of my life. When my tenure at Arabia Mountain High School started, I aimed to help my peers and provide them with an unforgettable high school experience. I served as Class President during my Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior years, and I currently serve as the AMHS Student Government Association President for the 2022-2023 school year. I participate in numerous school and community activities such as the City of Stonecrest Parks and Recreation Process, Prom, Homecoming, etc. Additionally, I represent my beloved school as the 2022-2023 Miss AMHS. Lastly, I'm proud to represent the 94,000 students of Dekalb County, GA as a member of the Superintendent Student Advisory Council. One of my favorite scriptures is Matthew 5:16, "Let your light shine before others, so they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven." As a servant, I must give of myself selflessly to my peers. As a member of the Student Government Association, I've learned how to represent and listen to others to see their needs and think critically in numerous situations. Some of the decisions I had to make were difficult, but at the end of the day, I strived to meet my fellow students' needs and desires. In college, I will strive to serve my college community and ensure that everyone of all genders, ethnicities, and races will be included in everything I present to them. Additionally, I will do my part to ensure that I promote cultural activities and awareness on campus. As a young African-American woman, I must encourage the younger generations to strive to be the best versions of themselves that they can be and to embrace their cultures and heritages as they embark upon their educational journeys. Finally, I will also strive to leave a positive mark on the legacy of this great institution by implementing initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion on campus. Being a servant leader is something I have always aspired to be. Participating in organizations such as the Student Government Association has taught me valuable skills that will benefit me in my future endeavors. I have also learned that to be an effective leader, you must take the time to listen to the opinions of others and be willing to compromise to reach a common goal. This is what I learned from my time in student government, and it is what I will continue to do as a college student and future leader. In final deliberation, I plan to use the lessons I learned in SGA throughout my undergraduate career.

Some students across the country find mathematics to be one of the most challenging subjects to learn, but for me, it's fun and easy! Since I was a little girl, I've always been fond of numbers and equations. It was fascinating to me, and it's still fascinating as I expand my knowledge in this core subject. I believe that mathematics makes our lives orderly, and it helps us in our everyday lives. We use it to manage money, prepare food, shop, understand sports (statistics, etc.), etc. Mathematics is fundamental to society because it's used as a tool for global understanding and communication, and it gives us a way to predict the future and quantify relationships. As someone whose strong suit is in the field of mathematics, I really would like to do well on this section of my standardized tests. I've done well in math all my life. I've had the highest mathematics average in my entire class back in middle school, and my grade in various mathematics courses in high school have never dropped below a 100%. The reason for this circumstance is because I have the love and passion for it! I love math, and I always will. I'm drawn to the field of mathematics because it helps us understand the world better. Every day, we are surrounded by numerous equations, numbers, and algorithms, and it gives people a sense of understanding of how the world operates. Additionally, I've learned that nothing can be proved without evidence. I was a member of my school's debate team during my high school underclassmen years, and I had a lot of statistics in my evidence. I had to use these to make arguments to win each debate. As I practice my mathematics expertise, I face new challenges each day! It helped me understand how the world operates because it helps me solve complex and fundamental problems in my everyday life. I've heard that math is the "language of the universe" due to it helping us understand how it was created, and I can conclude that mathematics helps us understand how life came to be and how it continues to help us understand life as it is today. In final deliberation, mathematics will always be a significant aspect of my life. Since my future aspiration is to become a Chemical Engineer, I'm pretty sure that math will stick with me for life!
