Wellness Warriors Scholarship
Going for walks, journaling, and doing yoga are a few ways I intend to maintain my wellness while in college. These are a few techniques that I use now and that have tremendously helped me deal with the emotions I've experienced over the past year, including loss, sadness, and acceptance. When I start college in the autumn, these activities will still be helpful to me.
Balance in my life is crucial, especially since I'm a student. If I don't pace myself, I may find myself agitated, disorganized, and overwhelmed, which is not enjoyable. Starting the day with a journal prompt can help me align my sentiments and attitude before the day gets going. I am therefore more aware of my feelings throughout the day and their origin. This routine will be incredibly helpful to me as a college student.
I enjoy going for a stroll when I feel like my thoughts are disorganized and I have a lot on my mind. Walking promotes mobility (particularly if you've spent the day sitting still in class), higher energy levels, and all-around improved clarity. Walking is enjoyable when accompanied by music, a podcast, or perhaps even a friend. I enjoy going for walks because I can observe the scenery around me and occasionally learn something new. Every walk leaves me feeling relaxed and energized. Since walking is so straightforward yet effective, I strive to incorporate it into my daily routine.
According to B K S Lyengar, "Yoga is a mirror to look at ourselves within." For me, yoga can be a really good method to get in touch with my soul and sense of self. I can comprehend my feelings. That is strong all by itself. I like to practice in various places at various times. Every position has a distinct significance and goal, making it worthwhile. Every time I do a new task, I feel incredible satisfaction. I want to bring that enthusiasm and attitude with me to university and my academic endeavors.
These three strategies form the foundation of my personal wellness; they are easy but powerful ways to maintain my health throughout college. Because I can journal, stroll, and practice yoga whenever I choose, they will be more enduring throughout my college years. I may use these in my social networks as well, introducing people to various methods and such. The same is possible for me as well. Overall, I believe that focusing on one's wellness may be a peaceful and personally enriching experience.

I love spending time outside, working with kids, and learning new things. I adore that about my job as a camp counselor. It's a chance for me to give back to my community and inspire the next and succeeding generations with the knowledge, enjoyment, and lessons that come from nature. Although I want to focus on marketing, I think that my previous work as a camp counselor will help me be passionate about it. My ability to communicate with individuals in my neighborhood can be useful when I am marketing and advertising to them. I still intend to remain actively involved in my community through volunteer work while I'm in college.
I still aim to take part in civic initiatives like Atlanta's Trees for Atlanta community planting and citywide garden planting. Because the soil is a gift to us, the community deserves to enjoy a lovely garden and a diverse plant population. Children and younger people can learn about the value of community and taking care of one another as well as the environment. Different plant life sprouting up in the city and neighborhood can really affect how we manage the land. With the correct care, some of the vegetation can endure for a very long time. It can also preserve a tradition that younger people can learn from and be inspired by.
Even at my institution, I want to participate in environmental clubs. When you participate in school events and organizations alongside your classmates and friends, the impact is increased. It also has a creative component that draws on methods from my major and the club itself. It requires coordination and organization, but with others around you, it should be quite easy to learn new methods to engage with the community at my school and different events to hold during the day. When something is important to you, doing it naturally comes to you. I have a lot of optimism, so I think most things are conceivable. I can still make a difference even outside the organization since all it takes are people who are willing.
I'm very concerned about the environment and how we can make it better for the present and future generations. I think it's crucial to protect the nearby wildlife and vegetation. It is astonishing how much it can affect both you and others when you can persuade them to be interested in and participate in it. I'll take action and ongoing care of my environment and my neighborhood.
Your Health Journey Scholarship
Hello There! My name is Nyana Tripp, and I began working toward a healthier lifestyle during my sophomore year of high school. Covid had only recently begun to enter our daily life. This led to quarantine as a result of what had happened. I thought it would be fun to start exercising while I was in quarantine, similar to the workout videos I had seen on YouTube. I discovered "Chole Ting" on YouTube and started following her workouts that were posted on her channel. As I continued to exercise, I implemented improved eating practices. I used to eat a lot of junk food, but after making little but significant improvements in my health, I found that I was more willing to explore new foods that had a variety of health advantages. This improved my performance.
I fell in love with running after experimenting with various exercises and other things. I can recall taking on a 30-day running challenge. I previously believed that I detested running. Who would want to put oneself through such pain, I used to wonder. But as the days passed and I finished each run, I became aware of a particular sensation. I was liberated. Although it seems corny, it is true. Being able to move my body and then feel fantastic afterward made me feel very grateful. Running was followed by yoga. I once attended a yoga class at my school and have been smitten with it ever since.
I am appreciative of the positive effects and life changes I have made. I find it quite inspiring to look back on where I started and see how far I have come in terms of my health. I've also seen improvement in my attitude toward fitness and wellness. It's crucial to find healthy diet and exercise habits that work for you. It makes a significant impact when you are secure in your physical well-being and behavioral patterns. There are many different exercises and meal suggestions to use and make. Other areas of life can benefit from applying health and fitness. If you have a pet, I believe it's crucial to move to a healthier lifestyle for them as well as to care for the environment, which gives us the resources we need for a healthy life. The earth is equally essential to us, and I believe that anything done to help the earth is fantastic and great.
Students Impacted by Incarceration Scholarship
I never really got to know my father. It has only recently occurred to me, at the young but ripe age of 17 years old. He was always present like a ghost, but I seemed to forget about him. Of course, it hasn't always been this way. When I was a little girl, I used to talk about him so much that I went to therapy about it. He was imprisoned for the first time on a domestic abuse/ breaking and entering charge. The second time was the death of a teenage girl. I was four when he was imprisoned for the first time, and twelve when he was imprisoned for the second time. Everything about him seemed hazy to me until it didn't. My mother sent me to therapy for a little while after the incident.
I would start my first day of pre-k just talking about him and what I saw. That was initially my introduction. I went to therapy for maybe a year before I stopped. But this resulted in something else. Silence. I didn’t talk much when I was at school. I didn’t know what to talk about. I also couldn’t prompt myself to say anything. I was known as the “quiet girl”. This title of course followed me up until the end of middle school. I put all my efforts into studying and classwork as a way to distract myself from what was going onTo distract myself from what was going on, I focused all of my efforts on studying and classwork. I believe my father's incarceration had an unusual effect on me. I do well in school, I participate, I learn inside and outside the building, and I believe it has influenced my career path by teaching me how to reflect and think outside the box by putting myself out there. My long-term goal is to earn a bachelor's degree in marketing and work as a marketing analyst for entertainment companies.
After everything that happened with my father, I find comfort and peace within myself. I am proud of myself, my sister and my mother for dealing with this whole situation, to begin with. I will never know the answers to what my father has done or get a clear perception of who he is. But I am content with that. I acknowledge that he is my father biologically speaking, but I don’t know him or associate myself with him very often. I am, however, thankful for this experience in a weird way. It shaped me to be the most thoughtful, caring and eccentric person I am today. And for that, I am grateful. “There is light in the darkness, you just have to find the light” - Bell Hooks.
