Bold Moments No-Essay Scholarship
The image below showcases an action shot during a Water Polo scrimmage game against Wilson Area High School in Pennsylvania. In the image, you can see myself (white cap with the number eleven) passing the yellow ball to a fellow teammate, as my defender (red cap) watches my move.
The image itself is important because it creates a brief memory of my senior year. My senior year I had the teams most defensive outfield blocks and assists. My school has placed third that year in PIAA state championships, which made it a good end to my Water Polo career.
"Wise Words" Scholarship
The statement says `` What quote means a lot to you? Write a short essay about it, describing what it means to you and why this quote is special. The quote "If you're good at something, never do it for free" means a lot to me. This quote is from the movie Batman: The Dark Knight.
Growing up we were told to use our God gifted talents to benefit others, this isn’t always the case. In today's society, it is a competition for individuals to achieve successfully. Using the talents given to myself, I want to benefit myself with a cost. Not only does this quote benefit myself, but help others become successful by enduring a philosophy that will change their perspective.
As a superhero fan, I always loved the Joker. The mystical mind of a mad man makes the creative individual seen in the movies. I choose this quote because of the importance of not letting society take advantage of you. Be the individual that you want to be in this world. Success does not come from how people perceive you, but how you perceive yourself. Make yourself stand out to others in a positive impact.
In conclusion, "If you're good at something, never do it for free" means a lot to me. Using the God gifted talents given to me, I want to benefit myself with a cost. Not only does this quote benefit myself, but help others become successful by enduring a philosophy that will change their perspective.
Ocho Cares Artistry Scholarship
The question above asks "What does being an artist mean to you? How does it drive you? How are you connected to it? How do you plan to use your art to connect and create change for future generations?". The term “artist” defined by Google is a person who creates art (such as painting, sculpture, music, or writing) using conscious skills and creative imagination.
The world comes to believe that an artist is an individual who expresses their emotions through art, but this is not always the case. For myself, I believe an artist is an individual who isn't afraid to share their opinions/feelings uniquely to the world.
Growing up, I always had a pencil in my hand. In my middle school years, I was known for using the school's planner. I would illustrate all over the plan, expressing my emotions to the school's work load. If the workload was within my interest, the drawings would be expressed happily. If it wasn’t something I was profound of, it wasn’t expressed as happily. Overall, middle school for me always seemed bipolar. I would briefly remember middle school to be a mix of both innovative and unmotivated days. Middle school for me wasn't my cup of tea.
I always felt that art was a way to treat my ADHD. Growing up, my parents held me back from the first grade again due to my unfocused behavior throughout the day. Any small amount of movement would take my attention without hesitation. Because of this issue, my mother taught me art at a very young age. My mother would always go out of her way to teach me different varieties of art. One of these varieties included water color, which I still use frequently today. Water color was always something that helped focus my full attention. Through my mothers teachings, I felt like art was one of the major influences on who I am today. Without art, I wouldn't have been the unique individual I am today.
I plan to advance my studies at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. Taking what I said previously in the essay, I believe that an artist is an individual who isn't afraid to share their opinions/feelings uniquely to the world. Anyone who puts their mind to it can be an artist. Using my education received from both my high school and technical program, I have become an overall better artist throughout the years. However, I believe that anyone expressing creativity in a positive impact can be seen as an artist. I plan to help those who are like me, overcoming individual issues. I believe using my philosophy and the education received can be used to connect and create change for future generations.
