I grew up in an orthodox Jewish household. I had the benefit of a close community where I can walk to my friends’ homes in 15 minutes or under. My school, however, is an hour drive away. Since 6th grade, I have endured a long, bumpy bus ride each direction. It was exhausting, but worth it. I had a unique opportunity to learn both secular and religious studies, making my days of a dual curriculum long. I am usually out of my home for 12 hours each school day. If I have baseball practice, it is even longer. I have learned to work hard and long hours to achieve my goals.
My plan for college is to major in Business/Marketing. My dream job is to be a Director or Vice President of Marketing for a sportswear company such as Nike or Adidas. I have always wanted to work in the sportswear business. It combines my love for sports, clothing and sneakers into one.

I have already started my own buy and resell business. I focus on sneakers and sports cards. I first started collecting and reselling sneakers in middle school. I made a mistake of buying the wrong size and ended up with a size 7C toddler shoe instead of a men’s size 7. At first, I was really upset and frustrated. This taught me, however, to pay more attention and to slow down. Instead of letting that setback discourage me, it made me even more passionate. I plan on keeping that tiny pair and displaying it in my office one day as a reminder of how far I have come and the lessons that it taught me.
I had to work hard and save up for the pairs of sneakers that I own. This makes each one even more meaningful. Putting money aside from my various work endeavors including working at summer camp, helping people move, and my resell business, and not giving into spontaneous purchases, taught me patience and dedication. I hope to grow this into a self sustaining and profitable business one day in addition to working for an established company.
In a marketing position in a large retail company, I would have the ability to impact the world by helping the organization relay a positive message and connect with customers. Large companies often donate parts of their profit to charities. I could combine my passion for sports, merchandise, and community to lead the company’s charitable endeavors. I would hope to lead a campaign to donate sporting equipment to underprivileged communities.
My school experience and starting a resell business have helped me to develop a strong work ethic. I have learned persistence, overcoming set backs, and the importance of building community. These ideals will be used in college and in my professional life to help me succeed and to share the success with others. I hope that I will be able to combine my passions and also my commitment to make the world a better place.
In order to do any of this, I have to go to college. I want to go to college. I need help, though. My parents have received financial aid to allow my siblings and I to attend our day school. I hope to earn scholarships and save money with my work endeavors to meet my goal. Thank you.
