Watching them work through tough situations showed me what resilience looks like. Even when things weren’t perfect, they kept going and made sure our family stayed together and supported one another. Sports have also played a big role in helping me grow as a person. Running cross country has taught me that success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes dedication, consistency, and the ability to keep pushing forward even when you feel tired or discouraged. The lessons I’ve learned from running apply to many other parts of life as well. In cross country especially, a coach plays a huge role. Running long distances can be very challenging, both physically and mentally.       My name is Noah Harrison and I’m a 17 year-old high school senior with a deep passion for science, service, and making a difference in the lives of others. I come from a hardworking family that has always taught me the value of perseverance, compassion, and using whatever talents you have to help others. These values, along with my personal experiences, have inspired me to pursue a career in medicine. Growing up, I was always curious especially about how the human body works. While other kids were watching cartoons, I was glued to shows like Grey’s Anatomy or medical documentaries, fascinated by the ways doctors could save lives and solve complex health problems. But what really motivated me to choose medicine wasn’t just what I saw on a screen it was what I experienced in real life. When I was in middle school, my grandfather suffered a stroke. Seeing him go through the process of recovery speech therapy, physical therapy, medications was both heartbreaking and inspiring. I watched how doctors, nurses, and therapists worked as a team to give him the best care possible. I also saw how their support helped my family emotionally during a very difficult time. That experience opened my eyes to the human side of healthcare the side where doctors aren’t just scientists, but also healers, listeners, and leaders. Since then, I’ve committed myself to the path of becoming a doctor more specifically, a neurosurgeon. I’ve challenged myself academically by taking AP science courses, volunteering at a local hospital, and shadowing a neurologist at a nearby clinic. As someone who wants to become a doctor specifically a neurosurgeon empathy is a quality I know I must carry with me at all times. Surgery, especially brain surgery, is about precision and skill, but it’s also about trust. A patient puts their life in your hands. In that moment, they’re not just a case number or a diagnosis. They’re someone’s parent, child, or best friend. They’re scared, vulnerable, and looking to you not just for answers, but for comfort and reassurance. Having empathy allows a doctor to treat more than just symptoms. It allows them to treat the whole person.       "your just a stranger I know everything about". Isn't just a catchy lyric in a amazing song but rather a story. In a simple sentence from talking everyday on the phone to having our own silly inside jokes that only we knew. Being with you felt as if nothing else even matter's as if my whole world revolved around you. Knowing I had this connection with someone who i knew would never hurt me cause they promised it over and over we were forever. Having this ideal image of a perfect relationship gone with just a simple text of "this isn't working anymore". It hurt it did but what hurt more was seeing you in the halls walking around the next day with a smile on your face as if you didn't ruin the only thing I had going for me. You were not that girl that had too tie her shoe laces a specific way for good luck or who only ordered chicken alfredo with broccoli cause you liked the way they looked little tree's. You were not that girl to me anymore you were just a stranger in that moment a girl I no longer knew but knows everything about at the same time. There was times were I thought I don't think I could ever move on when everyone was telling me to find someone knew. I probably should have it had been seven months that seems like the normal thing to do a part of me couldn't do it. All though she was going through life making new experiences she's still my stranger I know everything about. When guts came out I laughed the first time I listened to the song stranger. Not because it was funny, or it was a bad song, but at that moment I never related to a song on a deep level like that before. A lot of people will tell you that moving on is the best way to get over someone. Its not always an option for some and when Olivia released guts that was my way of moving on. Olivia's music became more then just a amazing album it became a way of comfort, a new high, I couldn't leave. Because I wasn't just listing to music I was living it and to my stranger I hope your doing okay.
