I am a motivated and compassionate individual who recently graduated early from high school and plans to pursue a career in sonography, with the goal of specializing in pediatric sonography. I have always been drawn to the healthcare field because it allows me to combine my interest in science with my desire to help others. Being able to work with children is especially meaningful to me because I genuinely love kids, and growing up with my brothers has played a big role in shaping that. Taking care of them and being someone they can rely on has taught me patience, responsibility, and how to provide comfort during stressful moments. Because of this, I hope to create a positive and reassuring environment for young patients who may feel scared or unsure. My family and I have experienced challenges that have shaped who I am today. As the child of immigrant parents, I grew up witnessing the sacrifices they made to create better opportunities for our future. There were times when financial struggles and language barriers made everyday life more difficult, but my parents remained strong and determined. Watching them push through obstacles without giving up taught me the importance of perseverance, discipline, and gratitude. Their example motivates me to work hard and take full advantage of the opportunities they worked so hard to provide. In my own life, I have balanced school with multiple responsibilities from a young age. I have worked as a boba barista, a nanny for small children, and currently as a server at a sushi restaurant, where I started as a hostess and was promoted. These experiences have helped me develop strong communication skills, time management, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. Working closely with people every day has also taught me how important it is to treat others with kindness, patience, and understanding, especially when they may be having a difficult day. Through both my personal and family experiences, I have learned that challenges are not meant to stop you, but to help you grow. In the future, I plan to make a positive impact by becoming a pediatric sonographer who not only performs my job with accuracy, but also brings comfort and reassurance to children and their families. I want to be someone who helps make difficult situations a little less overwhelming. Beyond my career, I hope to give back to my community by encouraging others to pursue their goals and showing that no matter where you come from, you can overcome obstacles and build a meaningful future.

    Scorenavigator Financial Literacy Scholarship
My personal experiences with finances and financial education have been shaped largely by my upbringing and the responsibilities I took on at a young age. Growing up in a household with immigrant parents, I witnessed firsthand how hard my family worked to provide stability and opportunity. Financial conversations were often centered around necessity, paying bills, budgeting carefully, and making sacrifices when needed. While I was not formally taught detailed financial concepts early on, I learned the value of money through observation and experience. As I got older, I began working in roles such as a boba barista, nanny, and now a server at a sushi restaurant, where I started as a hostess and earned a promotion. Earning my own income was a turning point for me. It taught me independence and gave me a better understanding of how quickly money can be earned and spent. I learned to budget my earnings, prioritize needs over wants, and contribute to my own expenses. However, I also realized that financial education goes beyond just earning and saving, it involves understanding how to grow and manage money wisely. Because I did not grow up with extensive financial guidance, I have had to seek out knowledge on my own. This has made me more intentional about learning topics such as saving, credit, and long term planning. I understand that financial literacy is a powerful tool that can create opportunities and prevent future struggles. It is not just about money, but about security, independence, and the ability to make informed decisions. As I pursue my education and future career in sonography, I plan to use what I learn about finances to build a stable and secure future for myself and my family. I want to develop strong habits such as budgeting consistently, saving for emergencies, and investing for long term goals. I also hope to avoid common financial mistakes by being informed and disciplined with my decisions. In the long term, I want to use financial knowledge not only to support myself, but also to give back to my family and community. My parents have sacrificed so much to provide opportunities for me, and I hope to one day ease their financial burdens. Additionally, I want to be someone who can share knowledge and encourage others, especially those from similar backgrounds, to take control of their financial futures. Overall, my experiences have taught me that financial education is essential, and I am committed to continuously learning and applying that knowledge to create a better, more secure future.
