Hi! My name is Nil Sani and I'm 17 years old. I was born in Turkey, however my family relocated to Los Angeles in 2015. I'm proud to say I will be a first-generation college student! I created my YouTube channel in 2015 where I built a community of people exuding confidence, self-love, and strength. This created a domino effect where my followers developed a support system and friendships. Energized by similar obstacles, they stood against bullies, overcame fears, and realized their potential. I have used my social media platform to amplify the voices of those that have been silenced, degraded, or put-down and will continue to do so. I'm very passionate about gender inequality as most of my childhood was spent in the Middle East where gender inequality is normalized and one-dimensional stereotypes about women reflect us as weak and passive. I witnessed perpetual mistreatment and noticed young girls breaking under society’s harsh expectations and society turning a blind eye to their pain and suffering. I believe that gender inequality is embedded into society’s framework and joining forces with like-minded people, who vow to stand against injustices and promote inclusivity, will further lead to institutional transformations.
