Bio
The thing that I'm most passionate about is for people to be able to make informed choices while removing as much fear as possible from the deliberation process. With that in mind, I apply that passion to death positivity advocacy, which is a movement that seeks to make conversations about death open, honest, and educational rather than just sad and morbid.
Death is the one guarantee in life and so I hope that one day, as a funeral director, I will be able to educate and inform more and more people to have more positive outlooks on death instead of simply ignoring it, which only allows people to be blindsided by it when it happens. With that, giving people the resources to decide what they want for their bodies after they die gives them the power to choose and exercise profound bodily autonomy.
When it comes to working with the deceased, people often turn their noses at the idea as well as the very people dedicating their lives to the care of the deceased. It's work that runs quietly in the background, often only thought of precisely when it's needed. And more than anything, I want to be there when that time comes.
Passion is one thing, but dedication is another. It's not a fairweather interest rustled by the wind, it is planted in the ground to wait out all the sunny and stormy days and everything in between. While I'm passionate about this field and the impact it has on the world, what's more is that I'm dedicated to it. I know that it's not glamorous but I also know and believe that it's necessary, good work that I would be proud to undertake.
