I’m a dedicated student at Manchester Community College working toward a career in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. My passion for healthcare comes from a deep desire to make a difference in people’s lives through empathy, precision, and service. Balancing school, part time work, and family responsibilities has taught me perseverance, time management, and how to stay focused on long-term goals even when life gets unpredictable. I’m passionate about both science and human connection using technology not just to diagnose, but to comfort and educate patients during vulnerable moments. My goal is to become a skilled sonographer who brings compassion and excellence into every exam room. What sets me apart is my determination to build a future rooted in both service and self growth. Every challenge I face becomes a stepping stone toward becoming the first in my family to build a stable, fulfilling healthcare career. I believe that hard work, faith, and kindness can open doors that statistics say should stay closed and that’s the energy I bring to everything I do.

Community College Matters Scholarship
Growing up, I always knew education was important, but I didn’t always know where I fit in it. After high school, I wasn’t sure which path to take. I didn’t come from a background where college was guaranteed, so I decided to take my time, work, and figure things out. Going this path taught me how hard life can get when you don’t have the right opportunities and stability. That experience is what motivated me to take college seriously when I finally reenrolled at Manchester Community College.
Choosing community college was one of the best decisions I made. It gave me the chance to start over without the pressure of debt. I could focus on learning, building confidence, and figuring out what I truly wanted to do. Talking with my advisor, Mr. Masio Williams, I found an interest in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. I’ve always been drawn to helping people (I volunteer often, I help homeless people with snacks etc..) and the idea of using technology to make a difference in someone’s health really interested me.
Balancing school with a part-time nanny job hasn’t been easy, but it’s taught me a lot about time management. I’ve learned that success more about showing up even on the days I feel exhausted. I can't wait to see what my journey will look like. My future goal is to earn my associate degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and become a certified sonographer working in a hospital. Eventually, I would like to continue my education and earn a bachelor’s degree in healthcare management so I can help improve patient's experience.
I’m proud of how far I’ve come because none of it has been easy. My community college experience has shown me that growth is always possible with effort, faith, and consistency. I’m not just studying for a career I’m building a future that allows me to help others while proving to myself that I can accomplish more than I once thought possible.
