My name is Nija Lawoye. I am a student pursuing my Bachelors degree at Georgia State University. I was a single mother of one beautiful child and a student who struggles to make ends meet for my family and myself. I am the breadwinner for my child and parents, who are both unable to make ends meet, especially during the pandemic period. I am strong, determined, and passionate about my career, and this has made me a first-generation college student in my family. I have specific dreams which make me struggle and do every task with determination and effort. Moreover, as a single mother, I take pride in being the mentor and everything to my child as he grows up in society. I am resilient and open to the challenge that comes my way. Since an early age, I have always portrayed self-control and intelligence that have enabled me to persevere through the hardship of growing up. I have a strong will of determination that has enabled me to learn when to push and let go. Also, as a victim of verbal and physical relationships, I believe in new beginnings and hope, as everyone needs to learn when to start up fresh. My life has always been about learning, and this has been crucial in developing my resilience and positive outlook towards life. I am passionate about becoming a Forensic Science Technician as it has been my passion during highschool. I have always cared to investigate, seek justice and find opportunities of learning through expert instructions that will be instrumental in my career development. While living with my grandparents, I had to learn basic procedures of helping and caring for them, which taught me the important work that I would do. As a single mother, I am obligated to prepare a future for my son. Being a mother isa driving force in its own. My kid deserve everything, and thus, I am determined to excel in my studies and effectively provide for them all that they require. Through my career, I plan to generate wealth for them and teach them that everything is possible with determination and courage. Moreover, I am planning on opening a Forensic lab supply in the future, which will benefit the community and help those to seek justice with the help of the law. This will also be of help to me as I'll be able to exercise my expertise and provide efficiently to my child. My main challenge over the years has been working, studying, and being the best mom for my child. The COVID 19 pandemic has also been a setback for me. It has become very difficult to find a stable source of income, and those available apply to ration so that every individual is able to work. The working hours have also been decreased, making it hard for one to acquire enough money to cover for basic needs of the family. The situation has been overwhelming considering that I have to cover medical, housing, educational and overall family bills. The scholarship will be life-saving for me. I am determined to use the money to cover my apartment down payment, college materials, and food. I'll also channel the funds towards my credit payment. The money will be crucial in enabling me to go through college and achieve my dreams without having setbacks. I am also determined to spend my research and academic development, which are part of my academic activities. I am looking forward to my consideration of my application. Thank you!
