I am pursuing my degree as a Early Childhood Education teacher because I have always loved working with children. I was a teacher of a toddler room on a school setting for about ten years and took time off to raise my own three children. Once my children went off to school, I knew it was my last chance to go back to school and finish my degree which will allow me to work as an elementary school teacher. This scholarship will help me accomplish my dream because of the financial burden that my family is enduring to allow me to finish my degree. I am enrolled in school full-time and when I’m not in school, I am the mother of three young children. This leaves only my husband to financially support all of us at this point in time. He is so amazing and is so proud of me, and even though he never complains, I know working two jobs is hard on him and I want to find ways to help ease the financial burden until I graduate and can help to share the financial responsibilities. I am so excited to finally step into a classroom and teach children yet again. There are many intrinsic and extrinsic rewards to becoming a teacher. The biggest reward that I will have will be creating an environment that makes children want to come to school and learn not because they have to but because they want to. Children in school today are not getting the most out of their schooling because they feel as though it is a chore. If they feel this way they will not be as open to learning new things. I want to create an experience for children that will make them excited to come to school and learn. I will use methods that are outside of the box and more hands on. Having children read from books and writing in note books will not be a successful. I hope you will consider rewarding me with the Anna Sage Scholarship. This scholarship will help ease my my mind and allow me to focus on becoming the best teacher for all of my future students. The finish line is in sight for me and I hope nothing will stand in my way including financial hardships that may pop up along the way. I am currently in what I call my “second act in life” and I am going at it with full force and I promise that I will do everything in my power to succeed and fulfill my dream. I want to inspire my own children to do the same in life when they grow up and I hope that I am a positive influence on them. Thank you for the consideration for this scholarship.
