outside of you one person and one brain hold a lot of power though, some may fail to realize that everyone else has the same power just because you feel something, doesn’t mean that it holds true I may feel as if I only exist to myself, but in the sight of things, I’m important to others in ways other than physically I may feel as if I don’t hold much of that power. but maybe I smiled at a worker and it made their day. or maybe I told you a joke and it makes you laugh when you think about it hours after we had hung out this is why some have the love language of gift-giving. those gifts help to remind them it was an object that you knew they’d appreciate and that not everything related to love that you do must be spoken. whether it’s a rock they thought was cool or a beautiful necklace, everything holds meaning, everything holds love
    "Forbidden Foods" Scholarship
"Why does she get that special green slip? Why can't I get apple juice too?" For as long as I can remember I have had to read the labels on almost any food I eat. When I was in elementary school I had to be given special slips each day to show I was allowed to get apple juice cause the other drink options (such as whole or skim milk) proved to make me sick every day. Ever since I was in elementary school we were all forced to get milk at lunch, which proved difficult for me since I have high food sensitivities to anything dairy, egg yolks or, high in preservatives. These sensitivities in turn have made it hard for me to be able to eat a well-balanced diet, especially while in college. It is almost common knowledge that the food at colleges is near inedible and notoriously makes students sick. I have, of course, had to deal with this firsthand due to the sensitivities, with the COVID-19 pandemic causing schools to struggle financially they had to take a drawback on the quality of their food which didn't help on top of the fact that my school is known for having food that causes food poisoning. My sensitivities connect back to my career as well. I am a Media Arts Production major who plans to work in theater or broadcasting, and on places like TV, especially on the news, I could help by writing news packages that advocate for those with allergies or if something was going on nationally I would be able to bring light to the subject and help with advocacy. By getting financial aid through scholarships I can put my focus that was spent on making sure I do not have to drop out of school due to financial troubles and now can focus on saving my money from my two on-campus jobs to be able to cook meals at the dorms that do not make me sick. The ability to have freshly cooked meals that I did myself helps me to stress less about whether I will have to find a way to run to the bathroom in case the food school gets me sick or if I have to ration my meal swipes so I am can eat enough each day. I do not think it is fair for students to have to give up a healthy diet when they attend school.
