New Beginnings Immigrant Scholarship
I’m Nicolas Robles, I’m senior at Saint Mary’s Catholic high school. I’m first generation with autism son of parents came to the U.S illegally but have everything fixed up now. My experience coming from immigrant family was tough my parents both grew up poor but they work really hard to give me and my siblings a better childhood and way of growing up than what they had. My parents did this through sacrificing time they could spend with me. My family members would constantly have to watch me as baby and growing up while my parents were at work. Mind you the family members that would watch me were minor and not adults. I will always be grateful for my parents hard and there hard work motivates me today to purse college and to become the first lawyer in my family. My parent way of hard will inspire me to never give up no matter how hard it gets in life because they didn’t work there hearts out for nothing. There the only people that would like me to see me do better than them. When I end up having family I would want to give them childhood or grow up a way that I didn’t live. I want to become lawyer to inspire all Latinos and first generation Hispanic that anything is possible. To make all Latinos believe they can do anything they want to do. I would also like to donate back to Latino communities and people that were less fortunate than me because I like helping people that are in need of help. I would like to educate Latinos and inspire them to pursue career of becoming a doctor lawyer or something that makes effect on today’s work. A lot stereotypes think Latinos work construction and doing blue collar jobs. As Latino group we can do more than that with our work ethic we can take on more than being construction worker we can make true changes in the world. At the end of the day I will always be grateful for my parents and what they sacrifice to see me and my siblings to live better childhood than what they had. There work ethic will always inspire to work harder in schooler it’s hard to be good in school but it’s hard to be poor. That’s something that my parents told me and my siblings growing up I’ve always keep that thought in my head when I complain about studying or getting homework done. I’ll always be forever thankful for them and being first generation Latino.
Grace In Action Scholarship
I’m Nicolas Robles, I’m a senior at Saint Mary’s Catholic high school. I’m first generation Latino with autism growing up was hard my parents always had to work trying to make income family members would have to watch me constantly but nothing ever stop me and my family attending church. Church taught me putting my faith in God is the way to be thankful for the good and bad times. The bad times is like a test from God to see if remain close to him. Going to church taught me to trust God journey and the path that he created for my life. I grew up with many challenges. I was born with blood disorder which was very bad and constantly going to the hospital being sick that would also hurt my parents financially they already didn’t have enough money to top it off with medical bills made it worse. We believed in God and went to church while this time and we believe I can get over the blood disorder which I eventually did. Having autism growing up was another hard obstacle for me I was constantly felt misunderstood as person or trying to communicate. I felt like I didn’t fit in with my peers better than other I had trouble communicating the ways I felt to my teachers and peers which caused me to be seen different than other during this time I stilled have my faith in God still being thankful for everything that He has done for me. I went to public school from 1st to 8th grade I was pretty closer with church going most Sunday but I have always been thankful when I promoted from 8th grade I chose to go to catholic high school I knew it was farther than other schools but I wanted to go I wanted to have closer relationship with God and to be educated fully in the church to make friends with people that are close to God like the way I am I felt like it was calling from God to go on different path than the peers around me in my junior high I’ve always been different than everyone else but I thank God for I’ve been able to make some good friends through being different and going to different high school I felt like it’ll be a big change but it will be worth it the problem I had with the high school is the level of educated there way advance than any other school so I knew I had to work harder than any other student I’d make sure every homework assignment is done make sure to get help from teachers when I didn’t understand certain lectures while that going on I still had close relationship with God I felt I got really close to God was my freshman year of lent and leading up to Easter Sunday I was theology class there teaching the meaning of lent and what Jesus really did he have up food for 40 days I made every Tuesday Wednesday Thursday to go to lunch mass to pray more and to give more time to be with the lord I gave up a lot of things I felt like I was getting closer. I’ve always will be thankful for what God bless me with through any situation good or bad I’m in.
