My long-term goals help me to structure personal or professional development and direct my decision-making. My greatest passion is influencing someone's life positively. I've known since I was a young child that no matter what occupation I choose, I want to make a difference in someone's life. I've always been motivated to work in the medical field since I've seen family members struggle and have felt useless. I've been motivated to use the knowledge I've gained from taking biology and sociology classes in my future job. Personally, I believe this makes me a strong candidate since I am passionate about my goals of motivating both young and older people to take good care of their health and to recognize that their lives have meaning.

When I think about what it means to have a father figure, my thoughts don't drift to an abstract idea or a distant role model; they focus entirely on my grandfather. For as long as I can remember, he has filled the void left by my absent father, providing me with the guidance, love, and wisdom I needed to navigate life. My grandfather has been more than just a relative—he's been my protector, my teacher, and my unwavering source of support. What makes my grandfather so special is his quiet strength and unwavering commitment to our family. He didn't have to take on the responsibilities of a father figure, but he did so without hesitation. He was there for every milestone, every scraped knee, and every difficult moment when I needed someone to talk to. Whether he was helping me with homework, cheering me on at school events, or teaching me life skills, he made it clear that I was never alone, even without my biological father. One of the most important lessons my grandfather taught me was the value of hard work and perseverance. He worked tirelessly throughout his life, not only to provide for his family but also to show me what it means to take responsibility and never give up. Watching him handle life’s challenges with grace and determination inspired me to adopt the same resilience in my own life. His words of encouragement were always backed by actions that demonstrated the importance of integrity and humility. Another thing that stands out about my grandfather is his ability to make me feel seen and valued. He never made me feel like I was missing something or someone. Instead, he filled my life with an abundance of love, reminding me that I was enough just as I was. This unwavering belief in me has been a source of confidence and strength that I carry with me to this day. My grandfather also taught me the importance of empathy and kindness. Even as he battled long cancer. Even as he battled his own challenges, my grandfather always found time to show compassion to others, teaching me that true strength lies in our ability to be kind and understanding. In every aspect of his life, he exemplified what it means to be a father figure, and for that, I am eternally grateful. My grandfather's influence has shaped me into the person I am today, and his legacy of love and wisdom will continue to guide me throughout my life.

Building the Future: My Passion for Engineering Pursuing a career in engineering excites me because it allows me to blend creativity, problem-solving, and innovation to make a tangible impact on the world. Engineering is at the core of shaping the future, from designing sustainable solutions to tackling complex challenges in technology and infrastructure. My passion for this field stems from a curiosity about how things work and a desire to create systems that improve people’s lives. In high school, my experiences have profoundly influenced my decision to pursue engineering. Through hands-on projects, rigorous coursework, and extracurricular activities, I’ve gained insights into the discipline while developing skills that will shape my future career. One of the most pivotal experiences was joining my school’s robotics club. Collaborating with a team to design, build, and program a functioning robot taught me the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and attention to detail. It was thrilling to see our ideas transform from sketches to a physical machine, and this process solidified my interest in mechanical and electrical engineering. My high school physics and math classes also played a significant role in fostering my passion for engineering. Physics introduced me to concepts like mechanics and energy transfer, which are fundamental to engineering principles. Meanwhile, advanced math courses sharpened my problem-solving abilities and taught me to approach challenges methodically. Solving complex equations and applying theoretical knowledge to real-world problems was both challenging and rewarding, and it gave me confidence in my ability to tackle technical problems. Beyond academics, my leadership roles have prepared me for the collaborative nature of engineering. As the vice president of our environmental club, I organized initiatives to promote sustainable practices within our school, such as implementing a recycling program and advocating for energy-efficient lighting. These experiences taught me how to manage projects, communicate effectively, and think critically about sustainability—skills I hope to incorporate into my future engineering career. One area of engineering that particularly interests me is renewable energy. Growing up in an era of increasing environmental concerns, I have become passionate about finding innovative solutions to reduce our carbon footprint and promote sustainable living. I believe that engineering offers the tools and knowledge to develop renewable energy technologies that can power our world in an eco-friendly manner. By pursuing a career in this field, I really hope to contribute to a greener future and make a lasting positive impact on the environment.

Making a Positive Impact Through a Business Degree Pursuing a business degree excites me because it offers a chance to create meaningful change, especially for underserved communities. Business isn't just about profits; it’s about building systems that empower people, solve pressing challenges, and promote sustainability. My passion for business comes from a desire to bridge gaps—whether economic, educational, or social—and to create opportunities for others to thrive. Growing up as a black girl in the suburbs, I’ve witnessed how access to resources and opportunities can vary across communities. This has driven me to focus on using business as a tool for equity. Through entrepreneurship and innovative strategies, I plan to tackle issues such as income inequality and lack of access to education and healthcare. I envision building businesses that serve as pillars for community growth, creating jobs, and empowering individuals to break cycles of poverty. One area I am particularly passionate about is financial literacy. Many people lack the knowledge and tools to manage their finances effectively, which can hinder their ability to build wealth or escape debt. With my business degree, I aim to develop programs and partnerships that provide accessible financial education, especially in marginalized communities. By teaching individuals how to budget, invest, and plan for their futures, I can help them gain financial independence and stability. Another way I plan to make an impact is through corporate social responsibility (CSR). As the global economy evolves, businesses have a unique position to drive change on critical issues like climate change, ethical sourcing, and fair labor practices. I aspire to work in—or eventually lead—organizations that prioritize these values. By ensuring that businesses act responsibly and transparently, I believe we can create a more equitable and sustainable world. My passion for business also stems from its potential for innovation. In today’s world, technology and creativity are key drivers of change. I want to be part of creating solutions that use cutting-edge tools to tackle real-world problems. In conclusion, a business degree offers the tools and knowledge necessary to drive positive change in various communities. By focusing on financial literacy, corporate social responsibility, and innovation, I aim to bridge gaps and create opportunities for those who need them most. Through these efforts, I hope to build a more equitable and sustainable future, where everyone has the chance to thrive. By leveraging the power of business, I can contribute to solving pressing societal issues and fostering inclusive growth. I am excited about the journey ahead and the impact I can make with the knowledge and skills gained from a business degree.

As a child, I dreamed of becoming a doctor. I was captivated by the idea of helping people and making them feel better. I would play pretend with my toy stethoscope, checking my family’s “vital signs” and bandaging imaginary wounds. To me, doctors were superheroes who could save lives with their knowledge and compassion, and I aspired to one day wear that white coat. As I grew older, my passion for the medical field deepened, especially after witnessing my grandfather’s battle with lung cancer. Watching him decline over four years and seeing how my single mother cared for him opened my eyes to the emotional and physical demands of caregiving. I saw firsthand how nurses were on the front lines, providing not only medical treatment but also emotional support and comfort to patients and their families. This experience reshaped my career aspirations, leading me to pursue a career in nursing. While I may not have followed the exact path of becoming a doctor, my childhood dream of working in healthcare never faded—it simply evolved. Nursing combines everything I’ve always valued: compassionate care, medical knowledge, and the ability to form meaningful connections with patients. It’s a career that allows me to be directly involved in patient care while also advocating for better health outcomes in my community. My experience also inspired me to consider psychology as a second career option. Understanding how the mind works and how emotional health affects overall well-being has become an area of interest I’d like to explore further. Whether through nursing or psychology, I’m committed to making a difference in people’s lives through care, empathy, and education. In many ways, I’m still pursuing my childhood dream—but with more perspective and purpose. My journey from wanting to be a doctor to choosing nursing reflects how life experiences can reshape goals while keeping the same core passion intact. I’m excited about the future and how my career in healthcare will allow me to give back, honor my family’s sacrifices, and inspire others from similar backgrounds to chase their dreams. In conclusion, my journey from aspiring to be a doctor to choosing nursing reflects the evolution of my childhood dream through life experiences. While my initial goal changed, the core passion for helping others in the healthcare field remained. Nursing allows me to blend medical knowledge with compassionate care, fulfilling my desire to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. Additionally, my interest in psychology offers another avenue to support and understand individuals' well-being. I'm excited about the future and look forward to contributing positively to my community, honoring my family's sacrifices, and inspiring others to pursue their dreams.

I see myself at the vanguard of initiatives to empower and elevate BIPOC women, especially when it comes to addressing the particular systemic issues they encounter in the healthcare system, by utilizing my nursing degree. Three main areas will be my priorities: advocacy, community involvement, and direct patient care. My first contribution as a nurse will be to treat BIPOC women with compassion and cultural competence. In a healthcare system that has frequently marginalized them, I want to make sure they feel heard, appreciated, and understood. I can advocate for fair treatment, appropriate pain management, and appropriate follow-up care by developing a relationship and trust with my patients. This will assist in addressing health disparities, especially in the area of maternal health, where BIPOC women are disproportionately affected by poor outcomes. My intention is to take an active role in the community by providing workshops on health education and resources specifically designed for BIPOC women. I can contribute to raising awareness about mental health services, preventive care, and navigating the healthcare system by collaborating with community organizations. My mission is to provide women with the information and resources they need to speak up for their own and their families' health. Beyond providing care for specific patients, my goal is to support more extensive structural change. This entails supporting laws that deal with health inequalities, taking part in studies that emphasize the particular health difficulties BIPOC women encounter, and collaborating with associations to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the healthcare sector. In order to promote diversity and representation in the profession, I also intend to mentor other BIPOC women who are interested in pursuing jobs in healthcare. By combining these strategies, I want to help bring about change and work toward a healthcare system that genuinely meets the needs of everyone, particularly the underprivileged. To sum up, my nursing degree has given me the tools I need to combat the systemic issues and injustices that BIPOC women experience through proactive community participation, compassionate patient care, and tenacious advocacy. My goal is to empower women and promote fair healthcare policies by offering culturally competent treatment and attempting to close gaps in health knowledge. Furthermore, fostering the next wave of BIPOC medical professionals will contribute to the development of an efficient and inclusive system. By means of these endeavors, I pledge to promote social justice and enhance the welfare of BIPOC women, guaranteeing that they obtain the appropriate attention and dignity.
    B.A.B.Y. L.O.V.E. Scholarship
It is a privilege to submit an application for the Tolbert Family Scholarship and to discuss how, in my life and pursuits, I live up to the B.A.B.Y. L.O.V.E. spirit. I work hard to uphold the principles that Joyce Tolbert held dear as an African American young lady who is devoted to outreach and education: demonstrating God's love via service, encouraging others, and fervently seeking education. To me, having a lovely heart that aches to serve others is the first step towards exhibiting the B.A.B.Y. L.O.V.E. attitude. I always had a deep sense of belonging to my community growing up, especially to people who, like me, had to overcome obstacles because of their financial background or race. I've done a lot of community service, mostly mentoring young girls of color to help them through the challenges of their scholastic paths and to believe in their own abilities. I get great satisfaction from seeing people achieve and realize how loved and appreciated they are, whether it is through tutoring, planning school supply drives, or just lending a sympathetic ear. Another fundamental component of the B.A.B.Y. L.O.V.E. spirit is obedience to purpose, which is something I make it a daily goal to live by. I think the relationship between education and service forms the foundation of my purpose. My motivation for seeking a nursing degree is my desire to help people, especially in underprivileged areas where healthcare inequalities are common. My faith directs me down this route, serving as a constant reminder that my profession is a calling to improve the lives of others, not just a job. I think virtue is a very important concept, and the B.A.B.Y. L.O.V.E. spirit emphasizes it. I try to maintain integrity, kindness, and respect in all of my interactions—whether they be with people in my personal relationships, volunteer work, or academic settings. In my view, genuine virtue encompasses not only acting morally when others are looking, but also making the consistent decision to behave justly and lovingly under all conditions. Lastly, I have a deep and personal passion for education. Being one of the only women of color in my family to complete college, I am aware of how education can change lives. It is a tool to empower myself and others, to break down barriers and open doors for people who come after me, not merely a way for me to accomplish my professional goals. I'm determined to do well in school and use what I learn to better my community. In conclusion, I think that because of my devotion to service, my purpose, virtuous living, and my love of learning, I exemplify the B.A.B.Y. L.O.V.E. spirit. In addition to honoring Joyce Tolbert's legacy, winning this scholarship would enable me to carry on with my mission of improving the world.

John Young 'Pursue Your Passion' Scholarship
For me, becoming a doctor is more than just a professional route; it's a calling that stems from my desire to have a significant influence on people and communities. My enthusiasm for research, my dedication to serving others, and my own experiences have all contributed to my interest in this profession. Although being a healthcare practitioner is a demanding road, I am motivated by three main goals: to solve inequalities in the healthcare system, to contribute to medical knowledge developments, and to give compassionate treatment. My interest with the human body and its amazing ability to heal led me to pursue a career in medicine at an early age. My studies, where I discovered a profound delight in learning about the intricacies of biology, chemistry, and anatomy, further nourished my passion. But more than simply the science attracted me; it was the awareness that medicine is an area where compassion and knowledge combine, and every choice you make can have a significant effect on someone's life. My dedication to medicine was firmly established by a life-changing event: taking care of a close relative who was battling a chronic disease. It became clear from seeing their struggles, the barriers to receiving high-quality care, and the crucial role that healthcare practitioners played in their journey that empathy, perseverance, and dedication are essential qualities in this line of work. It was at this point that I realized the value of medicine in providing patients and their families with support, comfort, and hope in addition to curing illness. Addressing healthcare inequities that disproportionately impact minority populations is something I am really enthusiastic about. I am a Black woman, and I have personally witnessed how systemic injustices can cause people of color to have worse health outcomes. In addition to providing medical care, my career aspiration is to work as an advocate for fairness in healthcare outcomes and access. My goal is to work in underprivileged areas, giving healthcare to people who have traditionally been disregarded and ignored by the medical establishment. By doing this, I want to close care gaps and support the development of a fair and welcoming healthcare system. I'm dedicated to pursuing my career interest through rigorous academic and clinical training. In order to make sure that I am prepared to handle the variety of demands of my future patients, I intend to fully immerse myself in both the scientific and humanistic facets of medicine. In order to add to the body of information that will guide more fair healthcare practices, I also plan to conduct research on health disparities.
    Michael Rudometkin Memorial Scholarship
Assuming a community service position inside a minority organization has been among the most illuminating and humble experiences of my life.Despite not being the leader, my effort was motivated by a strong sense of duty and altruism. Through this experience, I genuinely came to understand the value of cooperating with others to achieve a common goal and the strength of standing up for a cause bigger than oneself. I worked as a volunteer for a community-based group last year that aimed to give educational resources to young people from underrepresented backgrounds. I felt a special connection to the cause since I was one of the few Black women in the group and I was aware of the difficulties these young people had. Even though I didn't have a leadership position, I knew that my contribution was essential to the program's success. Organizing workshops and tutoring sessions was my main duty to make sure every child got the guidance and assistance they required to excel academically. I had to put the needs of the kids and the team ahead of my personal wants for attention in order to fulfill this duty. Making sure that everything went as planned and that the kids gained something from the program was more important than hogging the limelight. I frequently worked in the background, setting up supplies, organizing volunteers, and occasionally filling in as a tutor. Even though there were moments when the labor was unpleasant and difficult, I knew that the children's lives were being improved by my efforts. Observing the immediate results of our teamwork was one of the most satisfying parts of the experience. Many of the pupils we worked with started to exhibit notable gains in confidence and grades. It was immensely satisfying to know that, even in a tiny way, I contributed to their achievement. It served as a reminder that being unselfish is about serving something greater than oneself rather than about looking for approval. I also learned the significance of humility and teamwork from this experience. Success in a group where everyone plays a part can only occur when all members are dedicated to the shared objective. I discovered that leadership is about serving the needs of the community rather than just being in control, and I learnt to value the contributions of people in all positions. To sum up, my experience performing community service has reaffirmed the value of humility, selflessness, and cooperation. Through putting others' needs first and collaborating with others, I was able to make a significant contribution to a cause I genuinely care about, and in the process, I developed socially and personally.
    Jay Curry Eternal Garden Scholarship
I am Nia Kennedy, a senior horticulturist presently seeking a degree. In my suburban upbringing, the garden was a constant source of comfort for me. From a young age, I was attracted by the rhythm of nature, the cycle of growth, and the connection to the soil. I have a strong love for plants and the environment, which inspires me to pursue horticulture as a career. I also want to use sustainable methods to change the world in a meaningful way. Horticulture is about nourishing life, supporting ecosystems, and producing beauty that feeds the body and the soul, in my opinion. It's not only about the science of growing plants. My desire to comprehend the complex interactions that exist between people, plants, and the environment is what drives my dedication to this profession. I think horticulture holds the key to solving some of the most important issues of the day, such as mental health, climate change, and food security. My endurance, in addition to my passion, is what makes me stand out from the other applicants.Being the only Black woman in my family to pursue a college degree, I have faced many obstacles along the way. Whether it was navigating a predominately white educational system where I frequently felt out of place or overcoming financial hardships that threatened to derail my academic objectives, I have experienced challenges throughout my life that have tried my resolve. I have persisted in seeking knowledge and competence in gardening in spite of these obstacles. My grandmother was my inspiration and the one who first introduced me to the joys of gardening, so losing her was one of the biggest challenges I've ever faced. Her death left a vacuum in my life, but it strengthened my desire to garden. I have committed myself to this field in honor of her, knowing that she would be pleased with the direction I have taken. Because of my steadfast dedication to horticulture, my fortitude in the face of hardship, and my desire to have a great impact on the world, I think I am worthy of this award. This grant will enable me to complete my studies and move closer to having a significant influence on the horticultural industry. To sum up, I would say that my path in horticulture is more than just a job decision; it's a personal quest to respect my heritage, overcome obstacles, and make a positive impact on a world that is healthier and more sustainable. My enthusiasm for this industry and my ability to bounce back from setbacks motivate me to succeed and leave a lasting impact. This scholarship would enable me to continue cultivating life and promoting positive change via horticulture, thus carrying on the tradition of those who have inspired me, especially my grandmother. It would also help my academic ambitions.
    1989 (Taylor's Version) Fan Scholarship
"Clean" by Taylor Swift from *1989 (Taylor's Version)* would be on the soundtrack if my year had a soundtrack. This song captures a journey of triumph, metamorphosis, and coming out on the other side of a storm with a deeper, clearer sense of who they are, both musically and lyrically. Like the song, my year has been about clearing out the old and embracing a fresh sense of who I am. The opening line of "Clean" establishes the tone for the narrative of emotional and mental regeneration: "The drought was the very worst / When the flowers that we’d grown together died of thirst." These phrases speak to the arid, lifeless times I've gone through this year, when everything appeared to fade and lose its brightness. However, these trying times have been essential to my development, much like in the song, when the drought heralds the coming rain and eventual rebirth. I've been reduced to the essentials by the problems I've experienced, whether they be in my personal life, profession, or internal conflicts. "Clean" has a strong message of release in its chorus, which goes, "Rain came pouring down / When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe." This message strikes a deep chord with what I've been through this year. There have been moments when the weight of my obligations, feelings, and expectations has nearly completely engulfed me. Nevertheless, the difficulties have been cleaning, much like the rain in the song. They've cleaned out the frivolous and distracting stuff so I can concentrate on the things that really matter.Ironically, the experience of drowning has been the one that has helped me learn how to breathe again and live a more genuine life with a clearer sense of who I am and what I want. "Clean" also discusses letting go, which has been a major subject in my year. The song "I think I am finally clean" represents a liberation from the bad things that used to control my feelings and choices in the past. I've had to face and let go of relationships, routines, and even outdated self-perceptions this year. It hasn't been an easy process; it has required facing up to hard facts and coming to harsh conclusions. But like the narrator of the song, I've come to a place where I can firmly declare that I am now clean. This is to indicate that I've made great strides toward letting go of things rather than that everything is ideal or that I've attained a state of ultimate enlightenment. Furthermore, the ethereal, ambient, and serene sound of "Clean" itself reflects the emotional terrain of my year. The song's production, with its reverberating vocals and gentle electronic beats, evokes the sense of calm and peace that I've tried to develop in my own life. Despite the turmoil and upheaval of the previous few months, I've made a concerted effort to construct an inner sanctuary where I can go to relax and refuel. This delicate balance between accepting the storms and finding tranquility within them is reflected in the music of "Clean," with its calming yet forceful tones.

His teammates and coaches hold him in high regard for his work ethic. Hurts never wavered in his pursuit of greatness, even in the face of hardship or skeptics. He puts in a ton of hours studying movies, honing his craft, and making sure he never stops getting better. He differs from other athletes in that he is dedicated to perfection.Hurts is aware that hard work, self-control, and a never-ending desire to excel are the keys to success. Hurts stands out for more reasons than only his on-field accomplishments. These include his ethics and character. Supporting Jalen Hurts as a fan is about more than just acknowledging his accomplishments; it's about standing with someone who embodies the ideal of what an athlete should be.
    Redefining Victory Scholarship
Success can be defined in a variety of ways, but for me, it means becoming one of the few Black ladies in my family to complete nursing school and eventually purchase a home for my mother. These landmarks stand for more than simply my own accomplishments; they symbolize the realization of dreams, the dismantling of barriers between generations, and the prospect of a better future for my family. I grew up seeing my mother go through hardships and give up things so that I might have possibilities she could only dream of. She put forth a lot of effort and frequently neglected her personal needs in order to support me and teach me the virtues of perseverance, hard effort, and the value of education. My desire to give back—to respect her sacrifices and open doors for those who will follow me—is the foundation of my dream to become a nurse. It's a big accomplishment in and of itself that I'm one of the few people in my family to have pursued higher education in nursing. It displays my dedication to ending the cycle of limited chances that frequently afflict underrepresented populations in addition to my goal of achieving personal achievement. The nursing profession necessitates empathy, commitment, and a readiness to help others. I am devoted to my calling since it allows me to directly impact people's lives in my sector. But becoming a nurse is not an easy path, particularly when debt is a major concern. The price of a college education is a big deterrent, and it can seem unachievable without the required financial aid. Here's where the role of scholarships comes in. Scholarships are investments in my potential and in my capacity to change the world, not only in terms of financial assistance. Numerous scholarships are available with the express goal of assisting minority students and those pursuing health-related degrees.Scholarships are available from the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) to Black nursing students who exhibit both a dedication to community service and academic performance. Similar to this, minority students can lessen the financial burden of a college education by applying for scholarships from the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). A great resource for prospective nurses is the Tylenol Future Care Scholarship. It honors students who have demonstrated leadership in their communities and who are dedicated to a career in healthcare. In addition to relieving my financial burden, being awarded one of these scholarships will demonstrate my commitment to my studies and future profession. Reaching my nursing objectives would be the beginning of a lifelong path of giving back.Purchasing a home for my mother represents more than simply a financial aspiration; it is a gesture of thanks for all the safety and comfort she has given me over the years. It would serve as a physical reminder of our family's progress and the opportunities that education may provide. In summary, I define success for me as completing my nursing degree and being able to return the favor to the woman who has given me everything. Scholarships are the key to releasing this potential so I can concentrate on my education and accomplish my objectives. I want to encourage other young Black girls in my family and community to follow their aspirations, no matter how large they may seem, by breaking through barriers and reaching these milestones. With perseverance, hard work, and scholarship support, I'm on my way to realizing these goals.

I had a Baby Alive doll that I loved when I was around five years old. You know, the kind that makes you feel like a mini-mom overall and coos and cries. I carried her everywhere I went, giving her the name Bella. Bella would not stop making noise, and my mom, bless her soul, had the patience of a saint—or so I thought at the time. Bella's incessant babble, tears, and giggles served as our home's background noise. I thought my mother, the queen of the subtly sighing and side-eyeing, put up with it. But looking back, her tolerance was beginning to wear thin. Imagine attempting to unwind after a demanding day only to hear the hundredth time from a plastic baby doll, "Mommy, I love you!"Each and every day. Bella curled herself under my arm as usual when I went to bed one night. I was out like a light after a day full of fictional and actual adventures. But Bella was not, my beautiful, sweet Bella. She decided it was the ideal time to start crying in the morning. And not just a whine, but an intense cry as if she were trying out for a late-night drama show where she would play "hungry baby number one." It seemed that my mother had had enough. But she had another notion before she could wake me up.With great care, she slipped Bella out of my death grasp and tiptoed into my room, then led her into the living room. This is where things start to become funny and interesting. My mother made every effort to calm Bella down. Like a genuine baby, she tried to suck her in and punched buttons and gave her a little shake. In a desperate attempt, my mother took out a roll of duct tape, tore off a section, and gave Bella's small plastic mouth a slap. Finally, silence! So what should I do with this devil doll now? Bella looked like she had been abducted by a renegade toy gang, so Mom couldn't just place her back in my room in that manner. She dumped Bella in the dumpster behind our house, doing what any exhausted and controlling mom would do. When I woke up the following morning, Bella was gone. Bella must have gone on a "big adventure," my mom said, her face innocently suggesting that perhaps one day she might come back. I purchased it. In my world, dolls could accomplish anything, after all. Weeks passed into days, and finally I received another doll. Life continued, but I was constantly curious as to where Bella had disappeared to. I didn't finally learn the truth till I was a teenager. As we were chatting about my early years, my mother started laughing uncontrollably. She recounted me the entire story in between gasping for breath when I asked her what was so amusing. At first, I was stunned, but then I started laughing as well. It was simply too much to imagine my poor mom attempting to use duct tape to quiet a rebellious Baby Alive in the middle of the night. These days, Bella and her "big adventure" come to mind whenever I hear the sound of a baby doll in a store. Even now, my mother and I still find humor in it, especially when I tell her that Bella was tied up and discarded rather than simply thrown away! It's grown to be one of our favorite family tales, serving as a gentle reminder that women can occasionally need a vacation from parenting, even if it's only for a minute.

The film adaption of "The Hate U Give" holds particular significance for me, since it vividly depicts the compelling story and characters that profoundly connected with me as a suburban black girl. The story is based on problems that a lot of people of color deal with, such as police brutality, systematic racism, and the difficulty of finding one's voice in a society that frequently seeks to quiet it. Although reading the book was a very personal experience, watching the plot develop on screen offered realism and emotion that effectively closed the gap between the two mediums. The film adaptation of "The Hate U Give" holds particular significance for me, as it vividly depicts the compelling story and characters that profoundly connected with me as a young African American woman. Angie Thomas creates a universe in the book that is both recognizable and urgent. The main character, Starr, struggles with her identity and the paradox of existing in two distinct worlds—her mostly white private school and her mostly black neighborhood. I could identify with this tension because I have frequently had to negotiate new environments in my own life. The book was engaging to read because of its honest and unvarnished depiction of these situations. But by emulating the intensity of these sensations both visually and emotionally, the cinematic adaptation went one step further. The casting in the adaption was excellent, with Amandla Stenberg portraying Starr to a T. Her portrayal added a genuineness that increased the sense of realism and immediacy to Starr's journey. I felt a stronger connection to the characters after seeing my mental images of them come to life on television. The visual components of the movie, from the emotional portrayal of Khalil's death to the demonstrations and Starr's eventual ascent to activism, produced a visceral experience that words alone were unable to adequately capture. The film's director, score, and cinematography all contributed layers of meaning to the narrative, intensifying the impact of the emotional beats. These components worked together to transform the movie from a mere adaptation into an extension of the book's influence. It gave me a new perspective on the narrative and helped me to appreciate the characters' subtleties and the seriousness of their circumstances. The main reason the "The Hate U Give" adaptation holds unique meaning for me is that it went beyond simply adapting a story from paper to the screen. Instead, it added depth and resonance to a story that is both a call to action and a representation of reality. It enhanced the emotional connection to the story, bridging the gap between reading and viewing, and created an incredibly memorable experience.

The brand new challenge name is "Tell the Truth". Participants in this tough task will be put through a lie detector test to find out their genuine emotions and motivations. Their relationships' strength as well as their honesty will be put to the test by this. The relationships they have built in the villa could be made or broken by the outcome, therefore the stakes are quite high. The garden portion of the villa will be converted into a sleek, modern "Truth Zone." The participants' heart rates are shown on a huge screen, and a polygraph machine is positioned on a table in the middle. A pair of cozy chairs are positioned across from one another: one designated for the exam taker and the other for a companion or host to pose questions. Everyone is gathered in the garden by the host, who also goes over the regulations. Every couple will alternately ask a series of specially crafted and pre-written questions while the other partner is connected to the lie detector. In order to elicit information about the contestant's feelings regarding their spouse, their relationship, and their possible future together, the questions will vary in tone from lighthearted to serious. Prior to the challenge, every couple chooses in private a combination of common questions and intimate ones that they would like their spouse to respond to. Typical inquiries might be something like, "Do you see yourself falling in love with me?"- "Do you think we’re the strongest couple in the villa?"- "Have you ever had doubts about us?"Personal inquiries could be better suited to address problems or fears specific to the partnership. The chosen competitor takes a seat and is linked to the lie detector. The host or their partner starts posing the questions. The polygraph equipment monitors the subjects' physiological reactions as each question is posed. The competitor must answer honestly because they are aware that the machine will probably pick up on any lies. The results are examined after every query has been posed. The results of each question are then disclosed by the host, who also states if the participant answered honestly or dishonestly. Tension is increased when everyone can view the results on the big screen. Couples have opportunity to talk about their feelings regarding the challenge after the results are announced. Since the truth—or lies—that are exposed can either improve or worsen their relationship, this frequently results in heated exchanges. Every islander casts a vote to determine which pair they believe performed the truth test the best at the end of the task. A special date or additional benefits in the villa await the victorious pair. In order to heighten the drama, one of the questions is covertly selected by the producers with the intention of exposing any lingering doubts or emotions. The contender is surprised and kept on edge by this question, which is only disclosed to them at the last minute of the test. The goal of the challenge is to foster moments of camaraderie as well as drama. Although it can highlight weaknesses in relationships, it also gives partners an opportunity to validate their connection or uncover underlying problems that require attention.

My role as the Director of Voices of Excellence's Little Buddies serves as a testament to my everyday persona. In the program that I oversaw, high school students assisted Erdenheim teachers in their lessons. The Little Buddies program's main objective for me was to support underachieving students in their academic endeavors. I always admired many cultures before taking on this position, and I was able to build relationships with people who share my love and regard for others. I was able to demonstrate my dedication to moral and generous decision-making to younger students who looked up to high schoolers by managing a group of students and working with respected classmates at Erdenheim Elementary. I wanted to stand my ground when I spoke with the administration, letting them know that I wanted the younger students to feel at ease among the high school students in various academic fields. Principals, instructors, and students were able to realize that a particular group of high school students recognized their strengths and were able to assist in any way that they could thanks to the set of communication that we were able to achieve through both of the schools. My team was made up of a variety of minority students who were successful at motivating younger students to follow in their footsteps when they reach high school. By demonstrating to these student groups that they are valuable, intelligent, and worthy of belonging to a group that embraces you for who you are, my group was genuinely making a difference, I told them. Although this service act was made public, we were able to build relationships with younger generations of various student types who were able to gain academic and social advantages from Springfield Township student role models. I may have various financial demands while I get ready for college with the intention of going into medicine. Medical-related courses can be costly, particularly if I want to go to medical school. The cost of tuition varies significantly based on the type of school I attend—public, private, or out-of-state. Lab supplies, medical literature, and other required items might be expensive. I'll have to set aside money for these every semester. Housing (whether on-campus or off-campus), utilities, food, and transportation costs might add up depending on where I attend school. I might also have to think about the price of health insurance. There are several prices associated with applying to medical schools, such as MCAT charges, application fees, and even travel expenditures for the interview. If I'm enrolled in a pre-med or medical program, I could have to pay for my living and travel expenses while doing clinical rotations or internships, particularly if they take place in other states or locations. I'll probably need software, a dependable computer, and maybe additional electronic devices like a tablet or health apps. Creating a detailed plan and budget, as well as applying for financial aid, grants, and scholarships, will be essential to controlling these costs.

To take on a new supernatural menace, if I could assemble a team consisting of three characters from Stranger Things, it would be Eleven, Dustin Henderson, and Steve Harrington. Eleven is the most formidable member of the group, and her telekinetic and psychic skills make her an invaluable weapon in any supernatural conflict. She is the obvious choice to lead the group because of her bravery, strength, and expertise in taking down the Demogorgon, the Mind Flayer, and other Upside Down enemies. Not only is Eleven a formidable opponent, but her intense emotional bonds with her companions also motivate her to defend them at any costs. Steve contributes a distinct set of abilities.Despite not possessing any magical abilities, his fearlessness, reflexes, and fighting abilities have come in handy in previous conflicts. Steve has demonstrated that he is a dependable and resourceful fighter by taking on danger head-on, whether it be with a baseball bat full of nails or by leading the charge in the Upside Down. Steve is an invaluable component of any team because of his strong protective nature, which he exhibits especially toward the group's younger members. The squad's brains are in Dustin. Undoubtedly, my upbringing as a Black girl in Pennsylvania influenced my values, relationships, and job goals. My personal development has been greatly aided by the state's distinctive combination of urban and suburban environments, historical significance, and cultural diversity. My experiences have shaped who I am and how I approach the world and my personal objectives. They have also questioned and validated who I am. The intricate social fabric of Pennsylvania has greatly influenced my views. The state is renowned for its lengthy history, which includes a crucial part it played in the struggle for equality and independence. But there have also been constant battles against racism and inequality throughout my life. Being raised in this setting made me aware of the persistent racial dynamics in our culture. I have a strong conviction in the value of social justice and equality as a result of seeing both overt and covert instances of racism. I now realize how important it is to speak up for what's right—not only for myself, but also for those who might not have a voice. I live by this conviction of fairness and justice in all that I do. In addition, Pennsylvania's diversity has introduced me to a great variety of viewpoints and concepts. Even in the face of opposing viewpoints, I've come to recognize the value of communication and comprehension. I've learned from this the importance of empathy and the necessity of keeping an open mind while dealing with people. These ideas now serve as the cornerstone of my interactions with the outside world. My connections have been significantly impacted by white suburban neighborhoods. I frequently found myself navigating environments where I was one of the few persons of color, which occasionally made me feel alone. But these encounters also made me realize how crucial it is to establish solid, enduring bonds with people who have similar experiences and beliefs. I've developed close friendships with people who are aware of the particular difficulties associated with growing up as a minority, and these connections have been a source of support and courage for me. Moreover, I've learned the value of intercultural friendships from my experiences in Pennsylvania. I've discovered that developing deep connections with individuals from many backgrounds necessitates respect for one another, understanding, and a readiness to have uncomfortable talks about identity and race. These friendships have expanded my horizons and improved my quality of life, showing me the importance of having a diverse group of friends. My professional objectives have also been influenced by the chances and challenges I've faced in Pennsylvania. I saw firsthand the significant differences in possibilities and resource availability growing up in a state with both prosperous urban areas and impoverished rural communities. This has increased my desire to work in a field where I can solve social injustices and improve my neighborhood. Whether it's through social work, education, or activism, my goal is to work in an area where I can help build a society that is more equal and just. Because of my experiences, I'm enthusiastic about giving voice to those who are disenfranchised and making sure that everyone has the opportunity they deserve. I can now confidently pursue leadership jobs where I can create change and inspire others to do the same because of the resilience I've built in the face of adversity.

The cornerstones of forming our future, particularly in the healthcare sector, are research and leadership. These two factors can literally make the difference between life and death, as I have personally witnessed. My mother suffered a brain hemorrhage when I was in elementary school. I recall the lights at the hospital, the terror and confusion, and the deliberate movements of the nurses and physicians. Their skill and direction helped my family get through one of the scariest times in our history. My grandfather was given a lung cancer diagnosis years later. I became aware of how potent the union of science and leadership can be as I saw him through his treatments and observed how science had progressed to allow us to spend more time with him. It takes more than just possessing information to lead with it, making choices that have a significant impact on people's lives. Science leadership will be the engine of innovation in the future. It will decide how soon we can create new therapies, how well we can contain pandemics, and how universally accessible healthcare can be made. That, in my opinion, explains my intense interest in the healthcare sector. It can make a difference, and I want to help bring about that change. As those medical professionals saved my mother and grandfather's life, I want to be the one driving the charge and applying science to save others. Our future rests on those who can take the information that science bestows upon us and use it to guide their actions, advancing technology while simultaneously raising everyone's standard of living. I want to work with others to create that kind of future. I came to see that science is not sufficient on its own; rather, it is how we use it to design the future and how we lead with it. Not only do we need skilled leaders, but we also need compassionate and forward-thinking individuals. Leaders that can effectively bridge the gap between scientific innovation and patient care are especially needed in the healthcare sector to guarantee that medical improvements are accessible and advantageous to everybody. In my vision of the future, science and leadership will collaborate to find solutions to some of the most pressing issues we are currently facing. The people who can lead with a solid scientific foundation will create the future, whether it is in the areas of enhancing quality of life, treating health inequities, or curing diseases. I want to contribute to this future by using my enthusiasm and experiences to improve the lives of others.

“When the Party’s Over”, "Ocean eyes," and "Everything I Wanted" are my three favorite Billie Eilish tracks. Though it has a very gentle tone, “Ocean Eyes” is nevertheless incredibly intimidating. I've always felt strong feelings and a sense of longing after reading the song's lyrics.I can relate to that because I have experienced both heartbreak and strong emotional relationships with others. I find it easy to get lost in the dreamy production of Billy's video and to feel moved by her Earthly voice when listening to this song. The song "When the Party's Over" explores a range of complex emotions and struggles. It serves as a reminder to let go of things that are not beneficial to you. Its unpolished sound and unprocessed vocals create a cozy environment that can relate to anyone struggling in relationships or feeling overburdened by life in general. The film “Everything I Wanted” delves into the themes of self-doubt, pressure, and the need for approval. I can relate to it since it delves into mental health, and her relationship with her brother makes it very relatable to anyone who experiences pressures. I feel like these songs touch near to my heart because, as someone of my skin color living in the suburbs, there's a lot of pressure to achieve or fit in. The songs have a deep emotional connection with me since they address common emotions and challenges I've faced throughout my life. Her compositions often resonated with universal themes of loneliness, self-discovery, and the yearning for acceptance, even among individuals from diverse backgrounds.
