Hey! My name is Nezar, and I'm a first-generation, low-income student passionate about the STEM fields and Medicine. My goal as a rising senior at Crestwood High School is to continue to make a positive impact throughout my community as a well-known volunteer. Since being accepted into my school's National Honor Society chapter, my life has completely changed. I've grown closer to my community, as I spend several hours each week volunteering for cleanup events, food drives, library youth programs, and elections. Unlike my peers, I took my grades seriously throughout middle school because I knew it would benefit me when I reached high school. Thanks to my discipline and motivation, I maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high school, and I wish to keep this GPA until I graduate. I aspire to enter the medical field, hopefully with a degree from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. I always felt there was something between me and that school. As a young child, it was the bold yellow and blue that attracted me. But as I grew older and did my research, I learned that it is one of the country's best schools in terms of medical education. Growing up in a low-income family, it wasn't easy when everyone around me held the newest iPhone model or wore the newest Nike shoes. My immigrant parents were always embarrassed that I wouldn't be able to study at a prestigious university due to our income, so I always worked hard and diligently to earn scholarships to help me pay for my tuition.
