Christina Taylese Singh Memorial Scholarship
Throughout my academic journey, my single mother has always stressed the importance of earning scholarships to fund my education. As a disabled single parent, she has never been able to afford to help me pay for school. She has inspired my passion for helping others and my goal to become a Physical therapist so that I may improve the quality of life of those who suffer in pain, as I've watched my own mother struggle with it for so many years. Because of this, I have worked hard to explore every opportunity available to fund my college career. Fortunately, my lifelong passion for basketball provided me with the chance to earn a scholarship that supported my education at Jessup University. Basketball has always been a central part of my identity, and it has been a driving force behind my academic success. However, this past semester, I suffered an injury that led to my removal from the team. Now, I find myself facing a significant financial gap as I work toward completing my bachelor's degree.
Without the basketball scholarship, I am unable to afford the remaining costs for my final semester at Jessup. This situation has forced me to reassess my future plans, but it has also given me the opportunity to grow. This season of life has not been easy, but it has strengthened my resolve and helped me focus on my true calling.
As an Exercise Science major, I have always felt drawn to helping others, and I plan to use my degree to pursue a career in physical therapy. I believe this field aligns with my values, allowing me to serve others through the gift of healing and support. A scholarship would not only help me complete my degree but also serve as a crucial step toward building a future that reflects my faith, dedication, and commitment to helping those in need. I am determined to use my education to reconstruct my family legacy as a first-generation college student and give back to my mother, who has sacrificed so much to help me succeed.
Looking beyond my undergraduate studies, I plan to attend graduate school to earn a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. This will allow me to reach my full potential and fulfill my passion for helping others. Ultimately, I want my story to inspire young people, particularly those from challenging backgrounds, to believe that they too can overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams. A scholarship would not only support my education but also allow me to prove that with faith, perseverance, and hard work, anything is possible.

Ashby & Graff Educational Support Award
In Chapter Two of Real Insights, John Graff drives home three principles that, while aimed at real estate, resonate just as strongly for aspiring physical therapists: setting realistic expectations, committing to lifelong learning, and building genuine client (patient) relationships.
Graff warns new agents that success doesn’t come fast—many quit within five years. As a physical therapy student, that realism hits close to home. The path from undergrad to licensed practitioner is long, with challenges like completing undergrad, finally getting into a DPT program, tough clinical rotations, and mastering assessment techniques, and passing the National Physical Therapy Examination in order to get a license to practice. Knowing upfront that it’s okay if your first patient doesn’t improve as quickly as hoped helps you stay focused. It’s not about instant results—it’s about steady progress, perseverance, and trusting the process.
Graff emphasizes that agents must stay up to date on trends, regulations, and market shifts. In PT, the “market” is evolving too: new research in biomechanics, rehab tech, virtual tools, and evolving insurance/payment structures. As a college student, I take this to heart by attending workshops, exploring leadership opportunities, and planning for certifications (like orthopedic or pediatric). Keeping current means better care for patients—and a competitive edge when I enter the workforce.
Graff explains that agents succeed by listening, engaging, and following up with clients. In physical therapy, this translates directly: patient progress thrives on trust. As I prepare to apply to graduate school and interact with patients during my practicum, I plan to keep this in mind and build that by setting realistic recovery goals, explaining each step clearly, and celebrating small gains. My success won’t just be in clinical knowledge—it’ll be in empathy, communication, and showing up consistently for patients.
Lotus Scholarship
Throughout my life, my mother has instilled in me the value of education and the importance of earning scholarships to make it possible. As a disabled single parent, she has never had the financial means to help pay for my schooling, but she has supported me in every other way—emotionally, spiritually, and through her constant encouragement. That support, along with my passion for basketball, helped me secure a scholarship that allowed me to attend Jessup University and pursue a degree in Exercise Science. Basketball has always been a major part of my life and identity, shaping not only my discipline but also my drive to succeed academically.
Unfortunately, a recent injury forced me to leave the basketball team, which meant the loss of my athletic scholarship. This sudden change created a significant financial gap and brought uncertainty to my final semester.
My plan is to complete my bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and continue on to graduate school to earn a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. I have always been drawn to the idea of helping people recover, heal, and return to their full potential. Becoming a physical therapist is not just a career choice—it’s a calling.I want to be someone who uplifts and empowers others, just as so many have done for me.
As a first-generation college student, I am determined to use my education to change the trajectory of my life and honor the sacrifices my mother has made. I want to build a future where I can give back—to her, to my community, and to others who come from similar backgrounds. My ultimate goal is to use my story to inspire young people who may be facing adversity, to show them that no matter where they start, they can achieve great things with determination and faith.
ACHE Southern California LIFT Scholarship
Throughout my academic journey, my single mother—who is also disabled—has always emphasized the importance of scholarships to fund my education. Without the financial means to support me, she inspired me to pursue every opportunity available. My passion for basketball led to a scholarship at Jessup University, which made attending college possible. Unfortunately, a recent injury removed me from the team, creating a significant financial gap as I work to complete my final semester.
While this setback has been challenging, it has also deepened my faith and helped me grow spiritually. I’ve learned to pivot and not let minor setbacks deter me from achieving my goals and pursuing my passions. As an Exercise Science major, I feel called to help others, and I plan to pursue a career in physical therapy. This field allows me to live out my faith by supporting people through healing and care.
A scholarship would not only help me finish my undergraduate degree but also serve as a stepping stone toward graduate school, where I hope to earn a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. As a first-generation college student, I am determined to honor my mother’s sacrifices and build a legacy of perseverance and service. This has inspired me over the last few years to volunteer my time mentoring and coaching grade school girls through basketball. My ultimate goal is to inspire others—especially those from difficult backgrounds—to believe that they too can overcome adversity and achieve their dreams. With faith, hard work, and support, I believe anything is possible.
Mark Green Memorial Scholarship
Throughout my academic journey, my single mother has always stressed the importance of earning scholarships to fund my education. As a disabled single parent, navigating her own daily challenges, she has never been able to afford to help me pay for school. Her unwavering belief in my potential, despite our financial limitations, became my primary motivation. Because of this, I have worked diligently to explore every opportunity available to fund my college career, understanding that my education was a shared dream. Fortunately, my lifelong passion for basketball, a sport that taught me discipline, teamwork, and resilience from a young age, provided me with the chance to earn a scholarship that supported my education at Jessup University.
Basketball has always been more than just a game to me; it has been a central part of my identity, a sanctuary, and a driving force behind my academic success. The structure and dedication required on the court translated directly to my studies, pushing me to excel in both arenas. However, this past semester, my journey took an unexpected turn. I suffered a significant injury during practice, a devastating blow that not only ended my season but also led to my removal from the team due to my inability to compete. The loss of my athletic scholarship was immediate and has left me facing a significant financial gap as I work toward completing my bachelor's degree. Without the basketball scholarship, which covered a substantial portion of my tuition and fees, I am now unable to afford the remaining costs for my final semester at Jessup. Yet, through this adversity, my resolve has been strengthened, and it has illuminated my true calling with even greater clarity.
As an Exercise Science major, my fascination with the human body’s capacity for healing and movement has always been profound. This interest, initially sparked by my athletic pursuits, has matured into a deep-seated desire to help others reclaim their physical well-being. I plan to use my degree to pursue a career in physical therapy, a field where I can directly impact lives. A scholarship at this juncture would not only alleviate the immediate financial burden and allow me to complete my degree but also serve as a crucial stepping stone toward building a future that reflects my passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to helping those in need.
I am fiercely determined to use my education to reconstruct my family legacy as a first-generation college student. The sacrifices my mother has made, often putting her own needs aside to encourage mine, deserve to be honored. Completing my degree is not just a personal achievement; it is a testament to her strength and a promise to give back to her, ensuring she knows her efforts were instrumental in my success.
Looking beyond my undergraduate studies, my ambition is to attend graduate school and earn a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. This advanced degree will equip me with the specialized knowledge and skills necessary to reach my full potential and fulfill my passion for helping individuals recover from injury, manage pain, and improve their quality of life. Ultimately, I want my story to inspire other young people. Furthermore, I am committed to using my future resources and platform to advocate for women and girls in sports, striving to create equitable opportunities and foster environments where they can thrive without facing undue barriers. A scholarship would be more than financial aid; it would be a validation of my journey and a catalyst for the future I am determined to build.
TRAM Panacea Scholarship
The recent intersection of mental health and athletic injury has profoundly impacted my academic and personal journey, transforming my perspective on the critical need for holistic athlete care. As an Exercise Science major with aspirations of becoming a physical therapist, this issue resonates deeply with my professional calling and my current lived experience.
Throughout my academic career, the importance of scholarships has been paramount. My single mother, a disabled parent, has consistently emphasized their necessity, as she has never been in a position to financially support my education. This reality has driven me to actively seek every available opportunity to fund my college career. Fortunately, my lifelong passion for basketball provided me with a scholarship that covered my education at Jessup University, a sport that has long been central to my identity and a driving force behind my academic pursuits.
However, this past semester, I sustained an injury that unfortunately led to my removal from the team. This unforeseen event has created a significant financial gap as I work towards completing my bachelor's degree. Without the basketball scholarship, I am currently facing challenges in affording the remaining costs for my final semester at Jessup. This situation has compelled me to reassess my future plans, yet it has also presented an unexpected opportunity for an exploration of a passion to help those who have gone through similar experiences. This season of life has been challenging, but it has strengthened my resolve and clarified my true calling.
My personal experience with injury has illuminated the often-underestimated psychological and emotional toll that accompanies physical setbacks in athletics. For athletes, their sport is not merely a hobby; it is a core component of their identity, purpose, and community. The sudden disruption caused by injury extends far beyond physical discomfort, frequently leading to profound psychological distress. I've gained a new understanding of how athletes, like myself, can grapple with feelings of depression due to the loss of physical activity, social connection, and routine, or experience intense anxiety about the recovery process, performance levels, and the pervasive fear of re-injury. The cultural pressure to "be tough" often silences these struggles, exacerbating isolation. Furthermore, the very real identity crisis that can ensue when an athlete's self-worth is intrinsically tied to their performance has become acutely clear to me.
As an Exercise Science major, I am passionately drawn to helping others, and I firmly believe that pursuing a career in physical therapy aligns with this calling. This field allows me to serve others through the gift of healing and support. My recent injury has reinforced the critical role physical therapists play not only in physical rehabilitation but also in recognizing and supporting the mental well-being of injured athletes. The ability to integrate psychological strategies, such as goal setting and visualization, into rehabilitation protocols can significantly enhance recovery outcomes and foster resilience. Furthermore, physical therapists are vital conduits to specialized mental health support, capable of recognizing distress and making appropriate referrals.
A scholarship would not only enable me to complete my degree but also serve as a crucial step toward building a future that reflects my experience, dedication, and commitment to helping those in need. Looking beyond my undergraduate studies, my plan is to attend graduate school to earn a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, allowing me to reach my full potential and fulfill my passion for helping others. Ultimately, I want my story to inspire young people, especially those from challenging backgrounds, to believe that with health care resources, perseverance, and hard work, they too can overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams.
